But I luuuurv you

There are some classic and cool models in people’s collections.
Thanks for sharing.

I just wanted to also say I am thankful that I am in a position to be able to buy some of the oldhammer models I miss from my childhood.
Whilst I had to get rid of all of them due to personal circumstances, I am at least able to buy some favourites back, even at the prices some of them command.
Not everyone is able to do so.
So if you still have your models from back in the day, and or are able to buy them, raise a glass to the gods in thanks!!

OK, I’ll play.

As it stands today, it’s this fella who was painted by the very talented Stone Cold Lead.

Why this one? It’s an Interesting figure of a flawed character that’s well painted in suitably sombre colours and it’s Ferndale bloody Snart! I loved the Blood Bath at Orc’s Drift scenario pack when it was released and it influences how I like to game to this day.

For me it has to be my first marine. Alas I don't have it (my brother does - so it is still around) and I have not bought another copy (yet - I should correct that oversight). So for the sake of illustrating I shall use this lovely painted example from our own @angrygriffin to better illustrate (than I will ever do) the best Tech Marine:

When I first saw these models with their giant spanners and so forth I thought they were brilliant. That thought has never gone away. What use the giant "war spanners" are I don't really know, but it just feels "Rogue Trader" to me. So if I have to pick one, it's that one.

Enjoying seeing other people's offerings, lovely idea for a thread.

always love the giant spanners.. I like the 2ed Edition tech marines with the spanner/claw on there backpack to the one side so they would fall over all the time. nice fun.

Out of the few models in my collection I think the guy in my profile picture is my favourite.
I used to love Michael Moorcock novels and the Elric ones in particular.
I never had Count Smiorgan Baldhead at the time so picking him up a couple of years ago was pleasing.

He is not only from the Young Kingdoms which I like, he also looks a lot like my WRFP 1e character would have looked when he was old, so it invokes memories of the years of playing WFRP.
Plus he was the leader of the short lived Mordheim warband and lives on now as the leader of my Holzfaller in my Warm Ale and Mud WFB 3rd edition project.

Oversight corrected ...

Not the cheapest model in the world, but well it is my favourite model. Now as to when I get back to painting Marines I don't know, I have a handful of metal ones still to do and a fair few RTB01s but I probably need to be "in the zone" to face all the black/yellow horror on my Imperial Fists.

Nice. I'd say it's well worth it even if you paid more than usual. I mean, if it's your favourite mini of all time then what price tag would be too much?
Since I'm really curious... dare I ask how much you paid for it? I recently bought a miniature that set me back ~35€. Not proud of that but not feeling shame either. ;)

£14. I suspect if I was to wait around and perhaps get him as part of a larger lot I could have picked him up for more like £4 at a minimum (which often seems to be about the floor price these days). Buying as an individual "known" model it looked unlikely that I'd get him for less than £10 so I had a "what the hell" moment and just got it! In normal ebay fashion that means it will be awash with them next week so if everyone wants to pick one up cheaply now is the time :)

I've a couple of other tech marines floating about, one on a bike that I think I posted. The other are on foot.

£14 is not exactly cheap but not that bad either me thinks. Actually about same price as I paid for that aforementioned mini (I included shipping and ridiculously high VAT on price).

Yeah, no need to twist the knife as we already know what a bad habit buying old lead is at this day and age!

Yes, best some memories are forgotten :) - occasionally a modern mini price seems to accurately reflect inflation: https://www.bankofengland.co.uk/monetary-policy/inflation/inflation-calculator but I suspect it might be less than the 1500% increase I just paid.

All a bit hard to work out really given material costs, but I digress off topic. So who's going to offer up our next miniature miracle of magic that their soul will forever be bound to!
