BOYL Participation Games

Just to add that BOYL is only a small informal event which grew out of a few friends meeting up to play old games.

The website booker doesn't need to be super managed, but a few little tweaks could help make it a little more transparent to the wider community of gamers who are interested in attending and joining in. :)

- Would help if participation games are flagged as such on the timetable page (in same manner as private and show games are). Perhaps by colour coding?
I did wonder about that, but left them as flagged by the absence of anything else - ie all games are participation unless otherwise noted. However maybe it should be more explicit to better signpost to newer attendees.

I quite like the idea of a forum thread being generated, at least that will allow further details to be posted even if it is just to the Facebook or Discord group where the meat of discussion is continued.
My worry is just that the thread is abandoned and someone posts on it "in hope" without the owner ever really seeing it (they could well have notifications turned off). However we could easily provide a simple button to populate a "new" post directly from the BOYL site. I don't think I'll have requested more than read privileges in my existing oAuth, but we could tweak that. So having it as a "one click" might encourage threads, without the risk of creating dead threads?

Appreciate things remain up in the air ATM, but a simple map of the venue would be helpful to help identify where the tables in the venue are actually located!
Yes, I nearly started one for the carriage court after my first visit! I guess if the new venue is likely to be solid for a few years then we can certainly do something and integrate it into the "about the tables" page. I did also have a placeholder in the database for an image of each table (or at least a representative image of each table type). I expect there will be a suitably talented person about who can do something in the style of a nice fantasy floorplan, or I can do something if adequate at worst! I've not heard any more about venues yet, but I'd hope the lay of the land will be known pretty soon.

Quite, I don't want to make things too formal. "just enough" I think is probably the motto. However I think providing newer visitors with some confidence about what they can expect and providing a bit of a framework to encourage information sharing is no bad thing.
