BOYL 22 - Mordheim

Vyper

Vassal
Hi all,

I'm going to be running open Mordheim gaming on Saturday/Sunday.

We'll have one or two smaller tables available all day Saturday for smaller battles and then a 6x6 on Sunday for multiplayer scenarios. Everything needed to play, other than the models, can be found at Broheim: https://broheim.net/downloads.html. Although, please be aware of a small handful of 'house rules':

  • Light Armour, Heavy Armour and Barding is half price at warband creation.
Shields (not bucklers) provide an additional +1 to armour save in melee for models on foot.
Two weapon fighting (not including pistols or weapons with the 'Pair' trait) is at -1 to hit for the off-hand.
Handguns add +1 to injury rolls.
Optional Critical Hit tables and Random Happenings are encouraged!

I would recommend sticking to Grade 1 and 2 warbands, and Grade 1 hired swords for the sake of simplicity, but honestly just bring whatever you like!

Scenery and rulebooks are provided for the day, so just bring your painted warband (with some extras to recruit through the weekend), measure and dice. Feel free to play as many or as few games as you like, or even drop into other people's games (with their permission) to make for multiplayer skirmishes.

Please pop any questions or register interest below. :)

I'll bring a warband in the hope that I can jump onto this when I'm not playing games elsewhere during the weekend. I'm guessing from the link you shared that you're ok with people running warbands from Town Cryer etc.?

Also as I said over on facebook (this is Richard) very happy to bring a few civilians to populate the table and serve as NPCs over the course of the weekend!

Will be great to see you there and I'd be happy to have some civvies as set dressing. :)

Yes, feel free to bring Town Cryer warbands - not a problem at all, Just planning to avoid some of the 'draft' warbands that tend to have the really whacky or inconsistent rules. :)

It'll be great to see Mordheim being played at BOYL again. We've used the rules in many of our games there, but only once in the actual ruins.

Hopefully you'll be able to join us for a couple of games, it's such a fun set of rules. :)

I’ll see what I can do. If nothing else, I’ll swing by to say hello.

500 GC starting warbands, I assume. Are you going WYSIWYG?

Haven't 100% decided on what to bring; a lot will depend on what I feel like painting or if I go with assembling a warband from things that I already have painted up. Will check in with you closer to the time if I have any questions - I'm not that experienced with Mordheim so don't necessarily have a good nose for what would be out of kilter!

Yes, starting warbands as per the normal rules. I'm pretty ambivalent about WYSIWYG, especially as it tends to fall apart once you've got a few games worth of kit!

Me too, but for a one-off series of linked games I often go WYSIWYG to make things simple and obvious for all involved. People can always use any loot to recruit more bodies or upgrade their kit with lookalikes e.g. axe to gromril axe.

On premise I broadly agree, but I'm not going to police it. If people go full WYSIWYG for the duration then I have no doubt they will have adulation from their peers, which I hope is sufficient motivation! :)

Played some test games and a custom scenario over the weekend. Looking forward to being at BOYL with you all!

Prepping the warbands and packing up scenery for games next weekend, all very exciting. Thought I'd snap a couple of shots of some of the old lead coming with me.
