Boils and wounds on a blue ghoul

ManicMan

Lord
One figure i got being painted up is a Gary Morley Ghoul Catcher from the 1994 'Champions of Death' blood bowl set.. not really a blood bowl player as not really into sports and even less into USA sports, but back in the 90s, I did attempt a paint of this set.. i did two figures and they are god awful paint jobs.. so i decided amoung other things, give a couple (or atleast one) a paint job..

Anyway.. I've painted the one ghoul with a light blue flesh job but I'm not quite sure on the Boils or a large wound mostly on his back.. I tried a darker blue for the boils and.. didn't like it.. i tried Red.. and didn't like it.. might be partly just not getting them right but.. not sure the best ideas of painting the boils or the large wound.. thinking if the wound would be more reds, or would the muscle and blood matter be more a differnet colour... in theory.. I guess a bluey purple would be about right as it would be kinda deoxidised blood.. but trying to work out how Fantasy Ghouls work is... probebly futile.. (also, surely they would have oxygen in the blood just to move and give the impression of un-life.... i over think things..)

I'd probably not worry too much about reality and do the boils/wound in something to compliment the blue, so either an orange or yellow probably. Hopefully it'd look suitably "dead-ish"! Please do post the finished mini!

If it's like blister then you can do various washes of red and brown, I do sometimes with little bit black. Those muted colours are nice when you lightly wash them with very diluted muted grey or white. Then little white dot so you could get feeling that it will burst any moment. Dirty yellow ( with green or brown ) will also give nice shtick. As for wounds. You can always start with light colour and wash it with dark and then pick up few points with that light colour.

Sometimes yellow dot for blister or something is enough.

i'd like to see what shade of blue the ghoul is, but would suggest trying purple for the boils and a pale grey for the wounds, maybe with a dark red right at the centre.

Yep. Whole team in original box. unused transfers and all. I had three 'painted' up in the 90s.. I'll try to start working on the next one soon. Need to get some new stuff to strip some paint though.. Got a couple of other things that need stripping as well.

would like to get a couple of cheerleaders to kinda round off the team but.. well, they don't need to be female but.. come on, Female cheer leaders ^_^ while i'm expecting to do a bit of customising to make them cheerleaders, finding undead females (other then vampires) seams.. tricky.. Skeleton's don't really have enough detail to be able to tell the gender, but slighty more fresh in the way of a Zombie or something.. though i do have some resin misprints (i got a bunch of figures from a 3d resin print group where they sell mis-prints at a really good price (and some of which i can't see anything wrong with, others it's very minor.. the odd one it is more of a problem) and i might be able to bash up some female undeads.. though they are a bit more on the 32mm scale then 28mm... would prefer metal as they are easier to repose and stuff but some of these aren't bad. replace a missing arm with some skeleton arm or something... mm,,

I look forward to seeing the entire team in time. Cheerleader wise it seems GW did do a zombie cheerleader at some point, but I don't personally remember the model so it may have been a limited release. Someone on the boards may have some more information about them. There are three Zombie cheerleaders from Comixininos in Spain, not a company I've ever bought from before so can't comment on them. The style isn't really quite the GW period of your old box of course!

Can't say i'm totatlly taken with that model.. more of a necromancer which is fine but.. yeah.. not taken.. wonder if i can bash something together starting with a skeleton and putting it up to add bits of flesh and stuff.. not really great at that but maybe..
