Blood in the Valley

Excellent.
Hmmmm now to try and guess more banner slogans.

For Whom the Bell Tolls.
Ride the Lightning.
Harvester of Sorrow.
Creeping Death.
So What....
Thank you! For Whom the Bell Tolls is definitely happening. I was also thinking Fear of the Dark, Run to the Hills, Children of the Grave. Will see what I come up with. Next regiment is some great weapon wielding Norsemen, allied with the Chaos warband although in this scenario not Chaos-aligned themselves. Usually though, these guys will be Chaos Thugs for a Chaos army which is largely Norse-themed.

WD 164 (I really need to add images to the index I did). Only has bits and pieces for the wall but:
"Built up piece by piece out of DAS modelling clay. Once this had dried, the model was given a thin coat of PVA to bind the stones together before being painted"

So, I've been making up some walls inspired by these... Progress on projects has been a little slow because I've just started a second job to pay for the Christmas expenses. I realised halfway through building the wall sections that my stones were much, much larger than these and a lot more regular. In light of this, I'll be imagining the walls as being made of big blocks of dressed stone taken by farmers from whatever ruin is nearby; a temple, a castle, a city wall. Perhaps here's even a vaguely dwarven feeling to them. I wanted to include a lot of little bits like the GW plastic barricades, but I ended uo not doing that to have them be as generic as possible. The mod podge layer I slopped on top is currently drying... paint to come tomorrow, hopefully.

Taken ages to get round to posting this stuff due to the usual rush of the Christmas season, but here's some more bits I did for the scenario! First picture shows a granary and some crates from Fogou Models, not a huge amount to say about these other than the fact that Fogou make perhaps the best cast resin terrain pieces on the market and you should give them all of your money immediately!

Secondly, I've got some high red brick walls. I've always really liked the look of the high walls, brick or rendered or otherwise, that seem to have been in use a lot to surround enclosures and farm compounds in the early modern period. These are actually 1/35 plastic walls by Tamiya that I picked up in a local hobby shop, but honestly they were such a perfect fit for making higher walls in 28mm! I flocked them to create a mossy effect that I was pretty happy with.

Finally I've got those stone walls sculpted out of DAS air-drying clay! These went pretty well I think, the bricks I ended up with were very large and chunky compared to the ones from White Dwarf, and much chunkier than is realistic for dry stone fieldwalls. As said above in the thread, I imagine they're large blocks taken from long-forgotten fortifications, which absolutely was a historical reality in plenty of areas.

All from me for now - I've painted a ton more terrain besides this, but not for this particular game/project.
