My only gripe would be that the mummy is a bit on the small side for a ST5 blocker, especially if the other blcker is a troll. I'd use two trolls and be done with it..
I agree and disagree at the same time. =) Mummies are strong as feck and you know it! But they don't look their strength - that part I do agree with. Those old night horrors mummies are really small too.

Re: Blood Bowl Undead (Updated May 27)

I'm aware that some people think the mummy is too small. I just don't follow the logic behind this - unless someone mummified an ogre :)

I'll consider painting up two trolls though.

With two trolls you'll have the roster done for the dungeon bowl team Black Widows too. =) And yeah, I agree with you on the logic. A mummy IS strong, regardless of stature. They crush heads with their bare hands, ffs =D

Re: Blood Bowl Undead (Updated May 27)

When it comes to BB teams, I admonish myself to keep my opponent in mind. If my players have +ST, I consider it a curtesy to my opponent to field bulky minis for those players. Case in point: I've had several opponents giving me grief when playing my 2nd Ed orc team because the linemen look bigger than the blockers even though they have less ST. I've felt bad every time that happened.

Of course, that is not to say that your team is uncourteous! It certainly isn't. In fact, it's super great.

I remember how disappointed I was when I sourced a Night Horrors mummy and realized that I couldn't use it because next to every other player it looked too puny for me.

I agree that this is very important. There's no fun in trying to guess what the opponents miniatures actually are. That's why I paint base rings on all my playing pieces.

I don't think the mummy will ever be confused with something else. It's just a question of buying the premise that a human sized figure can be ST5

Re: Blood Bowl Undead (Updated May 27)

Nice team, really great character. Though the speedos on that elf... it's really quite disturbing

Really like the team though, very nice.

ST5 human size mummies are just right, the large bulky chunky mummies always seemed a bit herohammer proportioned to me, though I supposed someone would have tried mummifying their roided up barbarian enforcer somewhere in time before.

About the painted rings, do you use a mask, or freehand it? Very neat, would like to confirm how you do it?

Thanks for the comment.

The base rings are freehand. It's a real pain in the a*** to do, but I think it's worth it. Especially the yellow ones are tough to do because mistakes are so hard to correct.

You're right, of course. I was talking about playing newbies having a hard time calculating blocks and assists. I've found it just helps them tremedously if strong players also look burly. Some players initially have a problem with "buying the premise", as you put it. Certainly not a prob in a competitive environment.
Maybe it's just me nursing a concept from my newbie days all this time. I even still like to have extra burly conversions for Linemen rolling ST increases.

My apologies for coming along all nit-picky. You have an ace team there and nothing I say is meant to detach from it - on the contrary. I like that team so much that I start to get all 'spergy with high-end details.

Is the face of the elf, "just", a paint job or have you converted it?
The face is converted. The nose and some of the mouth was removed. The zombie features were then modelled with green stuff.

I've finished the last 4 miniatures which completes my tournament undead roster.

I love the Mummys. I always hated the ones GW made and thought homemade was the way to go.

Back in the days we mostly had Hero Quest mummys roaming the fields.

What everyone less has said really - absolutely lovely team which demands a group shot. Zombie elf and first mummy are my favourites. I think the only figure I'm torn on is the skaven, who just looks like a 'normal' ratman in the team colours. I guess time must have run out as your conversions are wonderfully done so it can't have been lack of ability or imagination.

As a bit of gaming pedant I also whole-heartedly approve of the raised numbers and positional stripes on the bases; they make my OCD happy.

Thanks for the comments guys.

I haven't figured out how to zombify a skaven so I just figured he could be a fresh corpse. Dead skaven aren't too hard to come by after all :)

I have some ideas for a decaying dwarf and dark elf

Gourgeous team Horekim, really nice choice of figures and i have to agree with Axiom the Elf is the standout player for me.
