Best Strippah!

I'd alway recommend Biostrip 20, its non toxic and you only need to leave it 30 minutes. Though I've been known to leave it over the weekend, I've tried all the others and this was the easiest and most reliable. The only thing you need to be careful with is resin, don't leave it more than 30 minutes as it will make it soft.

I'd always advise testing on something you care less about, this was recent GW FW resin, I've no idea about other stuff.

Indeed. I was thinking at some point I would throw some offcuts in! I've a large forge world resin dragon that might need stripping one day so finding a nice safe stripper for resin is on my todo list!

Fan of Dettol here too - it does have to be the OG orange stuff, not the green (pine?) one though.
And definitely avoid water contact until you're mostly cleaned up - my personal routine is to soak in Dettol for a couple of days, then take a toothpick to the mini and try and get the easy stuff off in nice big 'sheets' - old GW acrylic comes away nicely (apart from metallics in my experience). Then a Dettol loaded toothbrush and then a pin for the last bits. Sometimes a second soak and run through is needed. Once I'm happy with it (and so far the mini has only been in Dettol at this point) I cover the whole model in neat washing up liquid and give it a final scrub with a toothbrush - the bubbles lift any remaining loose paint off, and only then do I hit it with water - a blast under a tap at full pressure to get the paint and suds the hell away from the mini asap. Once the Dettoled paint touches water I find it rubberises, and if scrubbed in that state will smear back onto the model and is an absolute nightmare to clean after that..

In fact, I'm about to clean a bunch of pink horrors and assorted other Chaos Stuff..
(Pic file too large to attach, annoyingly..)

Castrol super clean degreaser. I think it's reasonably non toxic. Works slowish....I dunk and leave it for weeks. Safe on plastic.
Curiously it removes any green stuff/putty nicely (I can't remember if it sorta broke up, or just softened).

Yeah.. so do I sometimes. Difference is you don't need to with Dettol, but I'm a bit 'fits and starts' with my stripping..
LadyPox is generally unimpressed with this, especially as I currently have 3 tubs of Dettol/minis competing for space with the Ninja..
There was a Talk.

Think I made the error of introducing water too early in the mix when I tried Dettol…

Think I still prefer the quicker process of acetone for metal mini and that it dissolves the paint in the solution rather than much effort peeling back the paint, but will try Dettol again next time stripping plastic minis.

Got my “baths” in jam jars safely out of the way in the utility cupboard, so not had any awkward conversations with my partner! ;)

It's worth noting that ultrasonic cleaners are quite affordable (often used for jewellry cleaning) and that can help lift paint off of minis that have been treated.

eh,, real ultrasonic cleaners still haven't gotten the price down to be affordable I think as they are still... well, I think a cheap one is still about £200. More affordable then in the past but I'm not sure how much I would trust one which was only that, unless it was from a trusted dealer. You get alot for £10 or less and there idea of ultrasonic is sticking in a vibrating motor which is soo far from ultrasonic it's a joke.

jam jars safely out of the way in the utility cupboard,
That space here is already spoken for with many jars of sprue goo - really need to make some more hills..

Yep, have one of these - cheapish job, and yes, it just vibrates the water and does bugger all. Maybe the expensive ones do a thorough job though.

Real ultrasonic cleaners use a high frequency (ultrasonic) so.. you want at least, 20khz, most decent ultrasonic would be higher (ultrasonics used for pest control are more around 120khz), and will heat up the fluid (you want it to about 70c for a really decent job). If you wanna stick a plastic or resin figure in that, good luck to you. I'm sure "Dragon Quest" players would love a nice supply of Slimes. (not to be confused with the tabletop 'Dragonquest'.. trademarks are fun)
