I was finally able to track some of these down (all metal) but I need a little help with the riders. The fit is pretty horrible. It's like the saddle is too small.

What have others done? Is there a way to fit them on or do I need to get the hobby knife out?

I'm also wondering about the Marauder knights with the smaller horses. Why are the horses so damn rare when the riders pop up from time to time?

What horses?

yeah

those are the marauder horses I never see for sale even though the riders are pretty common. I don't get why the riders are more common.

these are the ones I'm having trouble fitting

I've never seen them sold with those horses, the only ones I've seen them sold with are the ones I have. I bought them in the hard blister and they came with huge white plastic horses... I will take some pics to show shortly.

I have some spare marauder horses and one citadel one if anyone is interested.

The one I can't find are the two riders on the bottom of the marauder add...the sword one in particular seems to elude me...:(

Cheers,

I think the reason you might have issues with this guy on this horse is due to the rider never being sculpted to go on that horse. Below are the original horses supplied with that rider... I know I bought them when they came out  Hard Blisters and as you can see from the piccies the original horse is much bigger and the rider fits perfectly. It's not any of their other plastic horses who knows mebbe they got rid of the supplier of the white horses??

I remember that now. Those white horses are the worst. Straight legs ftw.

The metal horse in your pic is actually the marauder one (I think). Those are much smaller than the citadel metal versions but you are probably correct about the knights being made for the plastics.

Hi MBH

If I understand your post correctly, you're asking two questions:

1. Has anyone else had trouble fitting Citadel chaos knights onto the Citadel metal chaos steeds?
2. Does anyone know why Marauder metal chaos steeds are so rare?

As for the first, I believe you will need to get your hobby knife out. The legs seem to fit around the horses without any trouble, but the leg position is quite peculiar and doesn't look realistic (more like riding a harley davidson than a horse). The problem is with the lower back armour that has been sculped onto the legs. In most cases, this doesn't fit well on the saddle, or it forces you to push the rider and the legs right up against the neck of the horse (which exacerbates the harley davidson problem). You'll definitely need your hobby knife (and a vice, I think) in order to correct the silly riding position, either by bending the legs, or by cutting into the back armour to allow the body to sit further into the buttocks, allowing you to position the whole pelvis to correct the leg position.

If it makes you feel any better, I've not yet tackled this work for my own chaos knights, who have languished unpainted for a few years as a result...

As for your second question, I have no idea. This seems to be a general issue with Marauder cavalry models, though?

Thanks

That's the info I was looking for. It makes sense if hey were made forthe white plastic horses. The knights have a molded on saddle thing that's causing all the issues. I was hoping there was another solution bc I always feel dirty cutting old lead.

From memory (and this is going back a bit to when I did Marauder's mail order) I seem to recall that those horses shredded moulds, so they were probably discontinued fairly early on, and the riders went out with plastic horses, hence the lack of the original horses compared to the riders.

Pretty certain it was those horses, anyway.

You mean these ones? Excuse the really old PJ please.

The knights were easy, I think I just cushioned with sculpted green stuff.

The Juggernaut champions legs were harder to fit but then he really isn't meant for the horse, I think I just spread the legs (so to speak) with a pair of pliers, pushing on the inside leg rather than pulling. He does look cool though.

If your still having problems just use the horses to pull your chariots:

The marauder steeds were so small nobody wanted them, the marauder knights though were nice.
