Asterix and.. what the hell is this?

ManicMan

Lord
Okay, I found my Camera! Yay!

but on related, got a random job lot of cheap minis mostly from the 80s and some early 90s, which I want to go through and try to ID some (some nice ones, some more basic) and one reason I brought this is cause of one guy I reconigsed right away.

This is a 28mm (roughly) Roman Legionnaire from Asterix. No two ways about it. BUT.. there is a huge problem. This does appear to have some age, so It would probebly be an official one but.. (again with the buts) as I am aware, only 5 companies ever made Metal Asterix figures.
in the early 90s, Andrea Miniatures did a range. They were huge 54mm things, were in tons of parts and didn't do this figure. The only did one Legionaire who was nothing like this or this style.

Clearly not him. It was a 7 part white metal figure.

News up, a fairly new set, Editions Atlas did a nice range but they were pre-painted metal (can be stripped of course).. however, they were 15mm scale. So clearly not this.

We have Admins Miniatures, there are 28mm BUT.. all the figures were single piece casts and don't appear to be quite as well detailed (even for this style) The Romans came with flat shields.

Clearly not that guy.

The most well known range would be the Hobby Products / Metal Magic range which had quite a few figures and were around for a while. this are very nice and.. I can't remember who it was around here that used some of the Briton rugger players for Blood Bowl... They are kinda one of the mains ones collectors are after... however.. this isn't one of them. well.. I don't think it is. The closest match I can find is C1702h from the Romans set, but the shield is different (more detailed and more rounded) and there are quite a few other differences.. though the image I got isn't fantastic

This leads me to the last I know of, Pixi. These are not only the same kinda style (but with really bad factory paint jobs which you need to script) but they even did diaroma sets and even the whole bloody village!
While I can't find this figure, or one close to him... Part of the Banquet set included some Romans trying to sneak in and among these figures is this guy:

Not the guy in the front, but the one hard to see in the back. Now.. if you strip that paint, cut off the base, take the spear as removeable (looks like it's a second piece to the cast) I think this IS the guy. However, I can't confirm this. I would also have to say the thumb is missing but that's easy enough. I would point out, the hand on mine looks to have minor damage on the bottom (little finger) can't see a thumb but I can see where it MIGHT have been, and a little groove where that spear might have lined up. The Shield is attached but removable (not very strong glue).

Does anyone happen to have better images or anything to be able to confirm this? cause.. yeah.. I think it's that guy. while just a basic legionnaire, It would kinda be worth what I paid for the whole lot just for this guy (it was a cheap set of minis)
