Any WHFB 1st edition players here?

After many years peering in from outside the forum walls I joined up to discuss and seek ideas for a Warhammer 1st edition project I have committed myself (and my wallet) to for next year.
So just wondering are there any pre-slotta wierdos around? Anyone still playing or returned to playing Warhammer before the invention of points values and army lists?

Aww... not even using the book of Battalions from first edition? or the original Regiments of Renown in the Forces of Fantasy? Only using the original 3 "Mass Combat Fantasy Role-playing game" from before it was even a battle game. interesting... only initial release rules with none of the add-ons or corrections that started in the same year..

@Nickinsalak might be your man for some 1st edition fun. Alas whilst I have a copy on the shelf 2nd is the earliest I've ever played. Anyhow Nick had a big game going at our local store earlier this year.
Yes I saw that report, truly amazing collection of figures and a wonderful looking game, must have been great fun to be involved with.

Battalions no, Regiments of Renown and aspects of FoF (Beastmen and aspects of the magic rules mainly) if I can source suitable figures but all with the earlier stat lines and free format organisation.

I am far more interested in playing the game with the Dever/Ansell/Halliwell narrative battle mode than what comes later after Rick Priestley took over (I had my fill of that when I was there). I find Thistlewood and Rampage at Ripecherry more appealing as inspiration than Orcs Drift, although playing that and the Lichemaster scenarios are on my list of interim stages while building up the collection.
I will expand on what I plan in due course, but it is not "Oldhammer" in any accepted sense other than style, the vast majority of my figures will be home cast Prince August :o .

I see no problem with your idea and prince august homecast.

I've never played anything before 2nd edition... but I have a copy of the 1st edition rules and have longed to play the Redwake River Valley scenario.
