Ambull decisions....

Hi guys , just a quick , what pose will you preffer for a future Ambull sculpt I'm planning to do?
Something similar to the old existing one? (static pose) or something more dynamic?
I'm also wondering about making the arms with "ball joints" to allow multiposing it.
Comments and ideas are wellcome! ;)

I'd like to see one in a running or feeding pose. Also how about making a ''Slave'' or captured one? with chains and shackles :)

Well, of course I'd encourage you to take the dynamic approach. The multipose idea is superb too, but of course that depends on how you can sculpt/cast them.

We'll like them anycase

It doesn't have to be the exact same, but that pose is pretty central for an instantly recognizeable ambull look... So for me, similar but not identical. A little less static.

+1 for this. Stray too far from the originals and then it wont be Ambull enough.

I dont like the idea of anything that turns the sculpt from a wild creature to one that has been tamed or captured or similar. Those things are relatively easy to add for the people who want to do it, but removing those items and resculpting those areas is far harder.

:) so that's where it comes from!

+1 for this also.

Perhaps you should choose a different name for this project and perhaps change up the design a bit - it doesn't have to be a carbon copy of an original and you don't want to end up in an awkward legal position 6 months down the road! Just make it Ambull like and call it a Bull-Crablon or something similar.

That is the most awesome name...!

:) That's what eh Crabylonians from the Crab nebula call them. ;)

See, now you're making me hungry for crab claw... mmm... crunchy crumbed crab claw. Delicious and alliterative!

The Crabylonians are a race of delicious crab people whose major population centre is the Hanging Gardens of Crabylon - one of the wonders of the civilized world!

Rule-book describes them as ape-like, I'd base whatever pose on that. The original model and concept art has good form, nice centre of gravity and weight. A more dynamic pose could work with your style, maybe something like:

Nothing that extreme I have planned , just a bit more sense of movement than the old one .
About the name , should we call him Amnh -B'ullh as the original language of their native planet sounds..... :?

OK, sure, just to my mind it needs to keep that stooped, shoulder heavy, long-fore-arm, ape-like gait rather than become a crazy crab man, if you know what I mean.

The Ambull was based on the D&D Umber Hulk, which since has gone in it's own direction, but might have some inspirations.

Both these have the right kind of pose, if the physique is a bit more identifiably insectoid than the Ambull.

I agree with Zhu - to me the stooped pose, with its knuckles resting on the ground when its just standing, are a big part of the creature's feel.

Yes that pose is great , but the Ambull have some differences with that Hulk pic , specially on the legs .
So a stopped pose with knuckles on the ground will end on a very static pose and very close to the original model too.
