Alternative Brets

Not sure how many of you would have seen this range of figures before so I thought I'd flag them here

These would all make great bretonnians from the rougher end of the old world and obviously Ribaulds and Brigands etc.
The islemen/highlanders would make excellent models for McDeath or something similar

and I would just for the commander in this pack

I think the men at arms are great, but the knights look to "historical" and not enough "fantasy" for me, to serve as alternate brets.

I figured they fitted pretty well with this range of Bret KNiggets

All based on genuine sets of "historical" sets of armour from the 100years war

Ah yes, these have been on The List for a while now. My only concern would be size; how do they scale with the Foundry reissues (and few originals) that I already have? Anyone able to give a comparison shot?

This would be my concerns as well....I love the look of the Claymore figs but need a comparison shot before I would make the leap.

Cheers,

Like you ever needed an excuse to buy more models! You should buy sine and do the scale shots for us ;)

Thanks, WP, that's a really useful comparison, especially as I have that rather underfed-looking spearman in the too-large helmet from the last pic. I think the unit deal for 20 of those men-at-arms will be made at some point, especially as I have some Curtey's miniatures that could do with some friends to form a unit of liveried serjeants

I reckon i'll be buying some of the foot Knights and I'll do a unit of them plus paint up a couple more of the mounted units I have sitting around to expand my brets.

I've painted up some of the Islesmen minis as Galloglaich (with added greenstuff 'taches) for a mate in a wee Nine Years War saga game we played a while back.
They are excellent minis.

I think they're great - so much character and finely detailed without being cluttered. The ex-reenactor in me approves very strongly of the way the mail sits and all the slight differences in extra protection they have. I've just painted up some of the billmen and am pleased with how quickly I could get them to a decent standard.

Anyway, I've been asked for comparison pictures, so here you are.

As above, but with some of the more forward leaning poses - not sure how helpful this one is!
