Advanced Heroquest

Here we go, last two Orcs. I did get these finished in Orctober, promise :)

Brian Nelson Big 'Un on the left, conversion of the Middlehammer Standard Bearer on the right. He's fancy enough to be a champion in my book.

Shields!

I was lucky enough to get a weekend with the house to myself a couple of weeks ago (bless you, school holidays), hence these last two got finished. In addition I spent a few hours making the bases more interesting (skulls, moss, leaves etc... you can see one of the toadstools I made on the orc above) and added some colour to the elf. I painted him a pretty long time ago and my attempt at 'pale' elven skin came out looking quite yellow, so a quick retouch went a long way.

He got a new shield too, the design from which which I stole adapted from the excellent Kari whose dark work on Oldhammer stuff is inspirational.

And yes, I also got a few games in! It was great to have an evening rolling dice with these little chunks of nostalgia after such a long time. I went full-on Cosyhammer with a few candles and a couple of pints of porter as the rain came down outside! Yes, I am a huge geek.

Classic Advanced Heroquest scrum round the doorway! Shortly after this photo was taken Meister Wotjek, the Amethyst Mage stepped into the room and was almost immediately KO'ed without having cast a single spell. The other heroes proceed to have to drag him from room to room.

Greedy Dwarf Lagavulin Lowbrow makes a dash for the treasure chest only to uncover a wizard's scroll he can't use.

I set up a quick and easy quest so that I could get into the game straight away. The heroes had to find and kill a Troll that had eaten a messenger (and his message). Each Quest Room contained a troll in addition to any other monsters in there. There was also an increased chance of finding mouldy or wet Hazard Rooms which also came with a troll in them. On killing a troll the heroes could search, with an increasing chance of finding the 'killer' with each beast killed. They managed it on the second outing, having had to work through three trolls in total! Good times were had.

Just one mini left to go - the Ogre Captain! Maybe I'll have to rename this month N-Ogre-vember to get it done.

Just don't paint a Vampire in November and everything is fine ;)

Finally finished!

I believe that there may be actual laws dictating that the trousers of this model must be painted in blue and white stripes. Happy to oblige. I did NOT get this guy done in November but happy to have finished the project this year! Maybe some group shots to follow.

In other news I was able to represent the Oldhammer community in getting my other Jes Goodwin Ogre featured on the Warhammer Community Hobby Roundup TM! It's a bit like being in White Dwarf (but less prestigious)!

Cheers all!

Amazing figure (wish I had one) and amazing paint job. Not to mention, I do so love the tiling you've done on the bases of this set. Loved every model in this series.
