A little GoblinAid WIP

Here's a Pirate Goblin from the GoblinAid collection I'm working on.

I'm trying to do him a little over tabletop quality, and I'm trying a new process of getting him "mostly done" then taking a high definition photo to review what's missing, wrong, or still needs work.

I think the key ones for me are tidying up under the eyes, sorting out his lower lip, and sorting out the blue and yellow on his jacket.

I'm happy with the blending on the nose to make him look a little drunk, but I'm not sure if the cheeks are looking more "clown makeup" than "rosy cheeks from drink".

I find rosy cheeks challenging to balance, and usually stop at the nose out of cowardice. I think you've got a good look there, but i interpreted it more like he was one of those foppish pirates who wear wigs and lots of makeup. Either way i like the cut of his jib matey! Yarr!

I'd just done the nose, and the wife told me I should really do the cheeks too. She's constantly pushing me to do better!

I really like the skin tone, are you highlighting by adding bone to your green? It is less bright and makes the suit pop out nicely. The cheeks look a little like makeup indeed but I believe a light green glaze would blend all of this nicely (or maybe it is just the close up that makes me say this).

White Undercoat, Base of Ogryn Camo, wash with Biel-Tan Green. With the base paint being so light, all of the 'highlighting' is actually from carefully varying the amount of wash in different places. Where it went too dark, I did a very thin layer with Ogryn Camo again before applying a light wash to blend it in.

Back end of the nose is Bugman's Glow, thinned down quite heavily, while the tip has more and more Wazdakka Red mixed in. The cheeks were a mix of Wazdakka Red and Ogryn Cammo. And maybe a bit of Bugman's Glow. I was tinkering about at that point.

Good call on trying to glaze over the cheeks to bring them down a bit. I'll give it a try!
