GG 2026 A Giant Task

This thread is part of the Golden Goblin painting competition 2026. Please see the entry thread for full details.
Ex-Dettolholic here. I'd fish him out, wipe him with paper towels to get the worst off & then scrub with an old toothbrush dipped in Dettol.
Exactly that, get as much paint residue off (I use the toothbrush for that, so don't wear anything too smart when doing so) and then get the orrible slimy paint/dettol solution off with paper towels. You can rinse the mini off with water or water and fairy liquid once the slimy stuff has been removed.

I wonder if Dettol are aware that most of their product is actually used by people stripping paint? Reminds me of that firm that manufacture scouring pads that were contemplating changing the colour from green to something more exciting. Apparently someone in the product design meeting pointed out that they wouldn't then sell as many to wargamers for use as hedges.

Oh, that's a thing.. Dettol is a brand name. Not only do they do a range of products since the original antiseptic.

I wonder if TCP is anygood ^_^;

Once it gets wrinkly it's usually good to go - if it's anything like an old citadel acrylic then hopefully it will come off in nice big pieces, so you could try just lifting a bit off with a toothpick and see how it goes, just to test how ready it is. You can actually rest a (wooden) toothpick on the mini, or just under the paint and spin it - often the paint will stick to the pick and you can wind it off of the mini in significant pieces - anything to (quickly) minimise how much there is to need to scrub with a brush.

Rick Priestley derailed a section of the seminar he and John Stallard gave at the last Warlord open day talking about Dettol and his new hobby of unpainting miniatures - if you can find that on YouTube jump to 42:30 for that section, although the seminar as a whole was entertaining. And yes, I'm one of the "nutters", as John referred to us, who piped up about needing to use the correct type of Dettol..
