40K-ishness along the Tartarus Rim

^Thank you, Twisted Moon. I feel like I always need more. You can never really have too many. But they're starting to add up to something useful. :)

At long last it's time for an update. Most of what I've painted lately is ships, but there's a few people at the end. First the ships though:

You've technically seen these first few before, but I've finally gotten them dressed up properly.

Updated photo of the three new Furious class great galleons (gothic battleships): HIMS Fidelis, Cursus, and Lictor

Here's updated photos of the new Tartarus Rim cruisers: from left to right TNS Vide Poche, Blanding, and Chouteau escorting the Trans Rim liner SS Spirit of Rocher

And an update on TNS Proserpine as well. (I swear, there are entirely new models coming.)

For good measure, here's a shot of the Tartaran fleet all together out at Starship Rock

I felt the mining ship needed a new photo as well:

And here's a nice updated photo of the Elf ships so far, before we continue on to the new stuff:

And here we go: the new stuff.

First, another Elf capital ship

And next, a whole fleet of dwarves!

Finally, a couple of kids from the Colony 87 range. (I really need to get painting on that, but I've gotten distracted with space ships again.)

I should add that there's a whole Jayne's Fighting Ships of the Tartarus Rim: Part I - The Terran Empire, Part II - The Tartarus Navy, and Part III - Xenos, Abhumans, and Merchants.

The shots of the space fleet stuff is really beautifully done, so much nicer than simple shots of the ships. I find them really stirring... Not sexually obviously! (at least i don't think so...)

^^Thank you Inchmurrin! It's been fun writing the Jayne's. And for what it's worth, the fighting has started, but it's such an epic mess we didn't get through, so I can't report yet. Will say more when the dust settles!

^If the cold vacuum of space is what it takes to get you all hot and bothered who am I to judge? Or maybe it's the rocket shape. Either way.

Anyway . . . thank you! Glad you liked it, no matter what shade of paint it stirred. ;)

Wow, what a great presentation of starships! That brought instantly memories of great video game and movie scenes to my mind.

^Thank you! That was my aim. The starship scenes are matte shots. My bluescreen skills are developing slowly, but I hope to make the whole Tartarus Rim story feel like the movies and television shows of my youth. I aim for theatricality in my gaming. Story above all.

This isn't really especially new, but I don't think I've posted a good shot of the whole collection of starships all lined up together, so . . .

Just picked up a couple of job lots and some odds and ends, so friends are coming. The Imperial fleet should nearly double. The space pixies (whom I'm calling Tahti for . . . reasons) will nearly triple. And the Rim Navy, in black, should grown by fully half again. Maybe a bit more. I don't think I'm keeping up with Golgfag, but I'm going to try, dang it.

Always great to see the old spacefleet gothic ships flying their colours. Are the imperials making a punitive expedition against the Rim soon?

The losses at Kerberos put them a bit on the back foot. I expect they will, but it might take a minute to gather another, more substantial fleet, and send it. And they'll probably need a minute to analyze the situation. I'm finally starting to work on the next installment. They almost didn't get any reports at all, as badly as it went for them. It was a very near thing to being Augustus's legions in the Teutoborg Forest, with the imperial fleet simply vanishing with no trace. From a force of four battleships, two cruisers, and ten destroyers three destroyers ultimately escaped, and only just barely. The TRN reinforcements were hot on their tails when they slipped into the warp. Inquisitor Augustus (I swear, I didn't plan that) has a clue what happened, but I wouldn't guarantee he has the full picture. Bungarus, Naja, and Piscivorus were pretty far off on the left flank while their friends on the right and in the center were exploding, so they might not have had the best view. Folks who saw things better didn't make it off the field, or went the wrong direction, to cool their heels in a Tartaran POW camp.
