3d printing a texture roller

I want to try something with my Golden Gobbo and use greenstuff or clay to make pavement, with kerbstones made from sprue. Hobbycraft only had a texture imprint pad for cakes that was the wrong scale, rubbishly made, and expensive. I ordered some off Amazon but then remembered I have a 3d printer. Just started printing and seemed to be going well, then we got struck by a power cut literally a second after I took the pic.

Experiment will continue when the power returns!

^_^ yeah, been having the odd cut the last couple of days. been thinking of a texture roller or two but.. things.. mixture of not feeling like it and the ones I would be more interested in doing are... very VERY complex.

Be interesting to see your results

I don't have a 3d printer but I did buy a 3d printed texture roller off Amazon. Overall the quality was pretty good. But you could see the scan lines very close up.

Nice, looks like a great idea. I have been thinking of trying to do some sculpting recently and was thinking of ways to create lots of scales. I came up with sculpting a stamp as the best solution with what I have on hand. This looks like another reason to look at 3D printers!

The roller came with 4 different stone tracks for just over a tenner. So, I am yet to be convinced I need to buy a 3d printer 🤔

I thought about the print lines, but I've reduced the layer height and I figure I can polish them out of the clay/greenstuff, and by the time they're painted in hoping I won't see anything
