I know the 2025 crew isn't done yet, but I thought I'd get the ball rolling on the next cycle so we can perhaps make this a little more compact. 2026 is a sci-fi year, so post your sci-fi theme suggestions as comments and I'll edit them into the initial post. I'll leave this open for suggestions for a couple of weeks and then I'll run a poll to select a winner and we'll proceed from there as usual with spot color, sign up, and so forth. I'll plan to launch the poll on the 15th. I will add that new miniatures are always welcome, so long as they fit the theme. I think this goes without saying, but given the increasing price and scarcity of older metal it probably doesn't hurt to mention it again.

I am not into sci-fi at the present.
So I am throwing this out there as a curve ball.

Converted Fantasy Model
Get a fantasy model and convert it so that it could pass as a sci-fi type.

Could be a pilot, mercenary, explorer, techie, assassin, foot soldier, medic, sniper, merchant, cyborg, all sorts of possibilities. Just needs to have started life as a fantasy figure.


There was a really good one in a WD years back that was the idea behind my thought, not that I can be bothered to track it down ATM.

i'll have a think, but in the meantime i thought a reminder of sci-fi legacy crews past might be helpful:

2015 space pirates
2017 inquisitors vs. gangers
2020 genestealer coven
2022 space a team
2024 the great escape in space.

sorting back through the subforum and looking at those has allowed me a think, so i'm going to propose a sensei warband.
 
But girls are icky and have cooties!!! Space cooties!!!!!

Actually that's a good idea, I converted a female heavy stubber chick about 13 years ago, never painted it.
 
I've added the Sensei and Girls Allowed. Converted fantasy models would, I think, always be a good option for a submission, since the early RT stuff was largely that anyway. And yeah, putting up the list of past themes is a great idea. :) I'll add it to the bottom of the main post as well. :)
 
^I'll put "Wastelanders" in for now, but I can make it "Wastelander Daughters of the Emperor" if you like. Or even "Converted fantasy" though I prefer to leave that part optional and assumed okay anyway. Preference?
 
I'll just stick with wastelander, I guess if people want the wastelander to be one of the Emperor's illegitimate daughters theres nothing stopping them. If wastelander is chosen that is.
 
That is a plethora ( god i love that word) of really good ideas so I won't suggest one except possibly encouraging but not requiring fantasy conversion? I may do that anyway just for fun.
 
^^Hey, if the sensei in a sensei's warband is one of the Emperor's illegitimate daughters, who better to take over after her late (very late) dad?
