2025 Legacy Crew Theme Suggestions

We're still cleaning up the last couple of details of the 2024 crew, but I figure it's time to get the 2025 discussion started. This being a fantasy year, we'll need a good fantasy theme. I'll edit this initial post to add suggestions as people make them, and I'll set up a poll on . . . shall we say February 1st to run one week? To get the ball rolling, maybe a Tilean mercenary company could be fun. (Not sure where I came up with that idea.) Add a suggestion in a comment and I'll put it in the list.

suggestions:

Labyrinth, Army of Darkness, Flesh and Blood, Legend, Tilean Mercs

I’ve only been around for a few years so I’m not sure it’s been done in the past but I’ll say Legend

You're going to make me watch a movie are you? My recollection is that we did a chaos village full of civilians, a Chaos United warband, a Nurgle plague band, and the Black Seal. Not familiar enough with Legend to speak to it, but I'm down with about anything and I can't ever really object to a good fantasy movie. :)

^_^ no problem..

Basically, a group painting challenge I think makes sense. people suggest a theme, then people paint up and submit a character to fill a role in the theme. After the year, one of the people who submitted is picked at random to win the set.

Not all warhammer games/stories need magic and non humans though?

The people in Flesh and Blood were going to be my Mordheim warband, until I read the rules and also decided that red fancy costumes would maybe not be useful in the grand scheme of things.
In the end I went for models I could use later, but I am still tempted to re-visit it and make a project around a small group or mercenaries travelling the Empire and getting into trouble.

Flesh and Blood is a great suggestion. I haven't seen Legend, but it doesn't seem like a bad one either. However, I'd like to put forward a suggestion of my own: Army of Darkness (1992). Might potentially involve creating two smaller warbands of just a few models, but I absolutely love the idea of a chainsaw and shotgun wielding hero with a couple of men-at-arms facing off against a pack of gribbly undead. I also think the film is suitably iconic and the genre-mixing is very Oldhammer.

Another idea might be Labyrinth: a warband of the most Hensonesque goblins we can find.

Ultimately, I'd love to contribute to any of these ideas.

Yeah, we've done two smaller warbands a couple of times now. Before prisoners and guards it was Necromunda style gangers and inquisitors. Some great suggestions so far! :)

Inspired‽ A fantasy crew of old Citadel ‘not’ figures i.e. those inspired by or satirising film stars, characters from books, politicians, stereotypes, employees etc.
