1/72 Castle thoughts?

I have been eyeing up some 1/72 scale castles on eBay for my Bretonnians, and I believe humans in that scale are roughly 20mm. Think I could get away with using one? Maybe not as a whole castle but a little fort maybe?

Ive never used anything in 1/72 before, watched one YouTube video of an unboxing and the guy said 'it looks about right' eyeballing it but I'm not sure, anybody here work in that scale? Think it would work or would I just be wasting 40quid?

One castle is the miniart medieval castle, the other is the zvezda medieval stone fortress. Not figured out how to share images on this crappy phone so can't show you all what I'm looking at.

Personally I expect it may look a little on the small side for Citadel 28mm minis to be honest, but then again most pieces of terrain are technically scaled down anyway. Still at £40-50 well it's a tempting punt and if I didn't have plenty of castles I'd probably give it a try myself!

There is an unboxing of the Zvezda castle by Wargames Illustrated that will give you a better idea of the size of the parts:

And one for the Miniart castle specifically talking about if it works with 28mm here:

The zvezda one has a bigger gate, I can imagine a lot of naughty french sounding swear words can be heard coming from the miniart castle as knights hit their heads going through.

Ill have a walk to the shop and have a think on it. For a small fort I think I can get away with it, the castle used in the 5 ed Bretonnian book looks a bit on the small side. Question is what castle, the one with the bigger gateway or the brutal square towered bad boy?

I might just let you guys decide tbh. I really can't make my mind up.

Just found a MDF castle for a fiver more in the right scale. Only problem is I have to detail the walls with stone effect. BUT the pyramids were not built over night (unless the Anunnaki construction crews worked really hard) so the castle will be a slow burn project I think, paint a unit then work on a wall section to keep things fresh and hopefully I can keep my motivation going.

You might be interested in taking a look at https://www.craft-products.com/dolls-house-brick-stone-tiles.php as another texturing options for stone/brick.

Do you have a link for the castle? I guess the main question is how much thickness you want to add to the walls. Individual XPS "bricks" would be a decent (if time consuming) and good looking option if you wanted a bit of thickness, but it rather depends on the design I guess.

Not figured out how to copy/paste links on this bag o crap phone, I miss my old Samsung. The castle I've ordered is listed on eBay as '28mm Castle with tower each corner with building under walkway modular scenery'.

I think I'll keep it simple and just slap some spackle over the walls, but those brick stencils do look great, I might pick some up for other projects. My Undead need a castle and there's another MDF one on eBay I have my eye on.

I use loads of 20mm (1:72 scale) stuff, including the zveda castle walls and towers, plus homemade extension walls I made the same size from foam board. An example showing 20mm scale Zveda, Linka and a homemade wall to match (from part 122 of my videos, in which the walls of Miragliano were defended by zombies) ... 1744384374727.png

Not to hijack the thread, but Sarissa Precision have some impressive pre-painted mdf buildings: https://greyfornow.com/collections/guards-of-traitors-toll-terrain

Does anyone on here have any of them? They look really well designed and handy for quick fix terrain. Assume it’s the same technology that GW used on their recent Kill Team box set.

The minis for the game that Grey For Now have produced alongside the buildings look grand too!

Ive ordered a sprue of the Guards, gonna need someone to guard said castle. As for the Traitors Toll buildings, they are on my list (as is the whole game) so I'll be sure to let people know if they are good or not. They do look good ngl, might work on them a bit so they look a bit more Sylvanian as I'm tempted by an Empire army and I'm leaning towards pre Vlad era because I have to be different.

Nice looking castle.

I am still tempted by the 20mm kits, might try converting them into a Grail Chapel or Monastery maybe.
