🎶 The Ballet of the Brushes 🎶

Yep pretty sure I have all those in the cabinet, The Last of the Mohicans would be another I'd throw in there, quite a bit of Hans Zimmer's stuff is enjoyable. I always though of sound tracks as "modern classical" if you like in my ignorant way :)
 
Well the sound track for my painting earlier this evening was some guilty indulgence in listening to the somewhat cheesy 69 Eyes and a band I'd not heard before - Augur, specifically a friend directed me to Too Soon which was a wonderful 80s nod. I shall have to see what the rest of their stuff is like.
 
I'm not sure that I'm meant to smile and laugh quite that hard at techno, but . . .yeah! Fun stuff. :grin: (Reminds me of some underground goth nights from the mid 90s. I want to call it properly Middlehammer to make a time period joke, but I want to be clear this is not in any sense an insult. It really is fun, even if it's newer than that Oldhammer metal.)

Which reminds me I wonder if Torture Garden events are still going on somewhere in London? I guess all the arty clubby weird stuff under London Bridge station went away when the station was redeveloped? The world marches onwards, ever onwards which (continuing with my tangental internal monologue) was slightly how it felt when I last ended up in Leeds some years back and discovered all the little tunnels of shops which I was sure were under the station were long gone and there was a huge new shopping centre. I went to look in the Corn Exchange wondering if Travelling Man had survived into the modern world, alas it was all up market boutiques. Then whilst sadly and idly wandering around I found them totally by accident! They'd survived and moved into a much more conventional store, but did at least have a lovely packed to the rafters cellar of bits and pieces. Right time to stop being too mawkish about the past! Gosh it's not like they've stopped making Green Stuff or anything, wait damn. :(
 
When were you in Leed Eric? I remember Travelling Man in the Corn Exchange back in early noughties, they have a much better space now though. There are some nice bars & cafes under the arches, but the shops were always a little out of the way… plenty more offices and flats that side of the centre now though!
 
Late 90s early 00s I guess seeing Uni friends in that neck of the woods probably over the holidays. Then more recently for a client who were for a time based in Leeds (have now moved).
 
i was before you: '92-'95; travelling man (was it the original shop in leeds?) was still in a small shop near hyde park corner when i arrived and was a treasure trove of non-citadel and second hand rpg material. it was on my way home, which was handy. it moved into the corn exchange during my tenure.
i also caught the last year of technique at hi-flyers and bliss at the gallery.
