Single BEST Paint

In the same vein as the otehr thread, what's the single best paint you have. The one you know you can always rely on?

Mine is this guy.

Hands down the best yellow I've ever used.

Wish I had more of this range.

Picked up their Elf Flesh the other month, nice consistency and handy lid that appears to screw tighter than the other droppers I have. Will deffo consider the range next time I need a colour.

I only have water based acrylics but find myself somewhat nostalgic for some oil based paints. Some of these links may only be roughly equivalent or be enshitified versions of what was available in the '80s. I may have rose tinted glasses on.

An opaque gloss yellow that went on top of anything. A chalky brown texture that absorbed acrylic ink pretty nicely.

For anyone tempted who did not grow up in the Airfix era, read up on the downsides of oil based paints. Turpentine. Brush longevity. Etc.

I occasionally use an oil wash over my models (with varying degrees of success) and used an enamel wash (AK streaking grime) on the Mordheim warband’s bases. They still have their uses, just not as regularly as opaque layers! 😉

Interesting I use black gesso (liquitex) for my base edges and any terrain bits. The Model Color range for my blacks in general as the Game Color (used to at least) was a rather glossy black.

I got mine years ago at Hobbycraft, but they stopped selling this range and replaced it with some bright stuff.

I suspect any half decent craft shop or online, it is a known craft brand.

I find this to be very matt, which is my main reason for using it.
Cheap of course too.
Only slight downside is that it can be rubbed off if you are too vigourous with any coats over it. so be gentle.
