Maybe. I think they did a pretty good job consolidating the lore.

well there is the reoccuring inconsistency over chaos and its introduction to the world and if the chaos gods were the current ruling domain holders, the force its selfs faces for taking it over or had always existed, there other facets of too like the chaos moon andif its new or was always a thing (there's also if its a elditch horror or indiependent earth bound chaos god but that more adropped plot thread) and if the old ones created theelder races or just modded them

way more then that. for some time, I've been trying to do an article which I think is almost at a 'good enough for purpose' stage and wow... soo much all over the place.

I mean some are deliberate due to unreliable narrators/sources, the main issue was a change in how chaos and gods were written going from backstory only with small but impactfull roles and never appearing on camera so to speak in modern setting stories to being a cheap way for a despoable chaos champion character to look important

a complete side note really, I'm slowly trying painting up my mounts , even though I haven't yet got/decided on the Slann riders. I have also decided I want a leader on a Litter. The rules give 4 bearers but most third-party ones you find, only have 2.. well.. This one is turning out a bit insane. I haven't got any slaves to carry it yet, or anything but I've worked out the basic size of the platform, and a big fancy Maya inspired back (I'm debating between Gold or Stone... both would be insanely heavy but hey, this is fantasy ^_^). Based on early art more, its planned to have 4 bearers, the Slann (probably a wizard/mage) and someone with a large fan for them, even though they don't feature rule wise).
I did look online for the prices of old Citadel ones.. I kinda have a liking of the old one where that slann was used in that big WQ (kinda) McVey diorama, mostly cause of that Diorama being my only experience of the Slann. as I was late 3ed, mostly 4th, dropped off around 5 starting, I knew of the Slann, but didn't see them or have too much experience with them, so that model was my main go-to for what this 'frog like' race was. In fact, though I knew about the Slann, it was a while before I connected the two together.
Anyway.. the 5th Ed one with Lizardmen carrying.. well.. It's okay, but I would have to scrap the lizardmen and it's slightly plan looking for my taste. Realistic but not fancy Fantasy and the price it was going for... well.. okay I guess but not what I want to pay for it when I have to do SOO much and I'm not THAT taken with it.
I then found a more.. erm.. modern one.. and my first thought was probably something the adult tag isn't strong enough to hold ^_^ it's AWFUL. Overly fatten the mage, make him look like Jabba the Huts ugly brother, then the litter.. is some form of floating oversized platform with tons of spikes.. and not spikes which are any good for attack or defence...
could the platform be an okay model? maybe. but for what it is sold as.. ugh.. it just looked awful to me.. very VERY awful.
Anyway.. Scratch building a litter. can't quite decide what the Slann is gonna be sitting on.. maybe a cushion, maybe a throne.. would kinda need me to have the mage first to decide ^_^
