Scratch-building wot I'd gone & done...

Part 1: The twin Giak houses/Orc huts for 25 & 28mm (or even 15mm...). Started these last year after a 3 decade hiatus(!) and after selling the entirety of my lead pile & rules/rpg collection, etc about 25 years ago when hit I 30 (shame on me as I had some rarities: wizard with machine gun, etc). So picking it up again and after getting in swing again 1/72 modelling (ww2) 15mm napoleonic, etc 5yrs ago.

And as anyone with kids I have 3x teenagers- knows they can go through a lot of yoghurt & such, a lot of tubs to recycle.

I decided to use these two upturned pots, slapped some milliput and polyfilla on them. Made doors with cut off bits of balsa, primed and dry brushed & inked. Added some scenics & even glued some real live lichen. New homes for (Giak/Uruk/Orc/Ork, but not 'Orruks' ffs!) heroes...for pennies.

Part deux: The large Orc/space ork hut with 'stiha' & stairs. Very bijou. For night time kipping under stars or taking pot shots at passing snotling.

Anyhow. This started of as an mdf box knocked up and polyfillared. Added stairs with bits of balsa & wood cut offs. Balsa detail & primed, dry brushed & inked. Again, added scenic & some live lichen (collected in garden & dried...). Apologies for naff (phone) photos and missed off Orc for scale.

Part drei: War machinery for gobbos and their mates...

Bored one day, (and not long after taking collection of two naff resin ballistas), I decided to make two of my own. With bits. And a wooden clothes peg. The plinths were made with hacksawed barrel/cask pegs (got loads of 'em as I used to tap beer!). Real string for tensioned rope, & to represent nail heads/rivets, some tiny beads from a haberdashery buy in Montpellier, Cheltenham, back in 1992(never thought I'd write that in a sentence!) and more recent bits of gw sprue. Added scenics from the bits box. Set on cut-up bits of Formica & milliputed & primed. Not got round to painting yet. A tip here for model makers wanting rigid sheets for bases for free - I used to request random free samples from Formica (get sent to home address). They used to come in regular off cut /waste sheets, some circa 4' x 8'...

Two bolt throwers next to their proud greenskins owners. The Citadel mutant long neck gobbo is good for peeking over parapets & forward OP range finding. Apologies for shite photos- none of this is serious modelling of course. :)
