The Serene Badger
Baron
I thought I'd best finally get around to putting some bits up from my collection and ongoing projects. I'll have a dig back through some older things too.
Someone mentioned an event at BOYL where they'd like people to bring along two units of 10 troops plus a character. I'm hoping to go (getting nervous that there's no sign of a date yet - hopefully it's happening?). So BOYL has given me a bit of a focus, rather than just scatter gunning models at random. I'm aiming for 10 dwarf spears and ten quarrelers, plus Helga Longplaits is likely to be my character. If I can, I'll try to do 10 2-handed dwarfs too, as I really like the models. Ultimately I plan to add loads more. In 4th edition I used to run the spears as a block of 20 for the rank bonus, but reading the 3rd edition rules I may go for 24, as the extra file would gain an additional attack from the second rank.
The spears are progressing the swiftest, as I had a few done already. I think Yobby and his halberd may be evicted to the double-handed unit, and I'll replace him with a musician (if anyone knows of a musician with a spear, let me know, else it'll be a generic drummer). The primed white pike in the back will be swapped for another more fitting spear, but he'll be back with his mates when I get to the 3rd and 4th ranks.
The crossbows are a bit behind, with just the leader and the two muffle brothers there. Some say they hide their chins because they're really beardless halflings, but I think it's because they're so lustrously bearded that they can't risk damaging their face fur in battle!
Thanks to a purchase from @Michael Stockin I've had a major movement tray upgrade from the hasty "card and bamboo skewer" jobs I made for my game with my daughter. I've sandwiched metallic sheet on there and started playing with magnets. They'll get flocked and planted too.
Having a goal for BOYL is really helping motivation and a coherent plan 🙂
Tips and constructive criticism very much welcomed!
