Well that was fun, my I may stay for an hour or turned into the whole session. Too many lovely people to chat to! So where to start, perhaps with what I brought down. So I took along my Titans and a few tanks since I thought they might interest people being slightly less commonly seen in the wild.
Managed to forget a bolt for the poor Eldar scout! Anyhow I did a few sessions of Dungeon Bowl. I think we mostly managed to muddle through the rules. I'd forgotten quite what a mix and mess some of the 2nd Edition rules were! Still it was fun, lots of heroic tackles and exploding chests and so forth. Lost both the games I actually played.
You might be a be able to clear up one thing, a lovely chap who wandered over to discuss Dungeon Bowl whilst I was playing the above game. said 1st edition... aha I thought here is a bit of history I pass on since this is 2nd, but they insisted that the box box polystyrene pitch version was in fact the first edition and then GW released the A4 box version with the standees after. I'm not going mad, but I'm 100% sure the A4 box was first edition ~1986 with the cardboard standees and the 2nd edition was the normal large box polystyrene pitch, orcs and humans. We then had Dungeon Bowl and Star Players and the Companion books which all expanded 2nd. Then you jump onto 3rd with its cardboard "grass" pitch and the rules were somewhat simplified and you brought in block dice and so forth. Anyhow he was very sure I had the order wrong, but I don't think so. I didn't ever own the A4 sized box edition, but it seems unlikely this came after the shinier proper minis's version?! Not going mad am I? Started to doubt myself a bit, but maybe we somehow crossed wires?
Anyhow history aside, Stuart who seems to organise the local Mordheim scene had outdone himself with a crazy long single world table (with side table for the underworld).

And yes during the day they played their way along the entire length of that...

And the underworld, which was some of the pre-printed cardboard terrain. Looked rather good actually.
Getting back to the older stuff we had a lovely 2nd Edition 40K game

Trevor had brought along a lovely 3D Space Hulk, which alas I didn't find time to play in, but maybe another day soon. We also had a table of random bits of nostalgia

Some "newer" old stuff and some older old stuff like the early campaign packs and WFRP supplements.
Nickinsalak had a 1st edition game going and boy was it pure mini-crack. Lovely stuff. Such an amazing collection.
Anyhow much fun was had and even better not far to travel! Speaking to Gary the organiser afterwards I think they might well having dipped their toe into the tepid bath water that is the ancient we could be looking at another at some point.
Much thanks to everyone who did organising and hauling of collections down, I very much enjoyed saying hello, forgetting names and admiring the metal.
