Returning to an old friend- a game of Blood Bowl second edition

But... Bloodbowl is inspired on Yanky Football.. Where is the expensive Half time show with Dance girls and t-shirt Cannons? I though that was the main point of yanky Football? ^_^

Hey @igirisujin I happen to have the 2nd ed Star Player cards that came free with White Dwarf tucked away in the bottom of my 1st ed box. No good to me, so if you don't have them drop me a DM. Happy to send them free to anywhere in the world if it means they get used.

Also, here's my round up on the glorious 1st ed. - https://theevillead.blogspot.com/2025/04/oldbowl-86-1st-edition-blood-bowl.html
I enjoyed your write-up of the glory that is 1st ed. Thanks for the offer of the Star Player cards that were in White Dwarf, but I still have the ones that I cut out of White dwarf. I will need to hit ebay and get the minis for each star player once I am done with painting the teams that I have.

Oooooh, I'd love to have those if they're still floating around

I love everything about this. Apart from that the dwarf coach needs investigating for match fixing - it probably says more about me than your post that I was almost apoplectic with disbelief when I saw the words 'dwarfs' and 'loose cage' in the same paragraph. The acknowledged tactic is a tight cage and a 20 turn amble downfield culminating in your blitzer stepping on the last surviving Slaven's spine as he walks in the score.

Second edition blood bowl was probably the first GW game (perhaps along with Space Hulk) that my fiends and I could understand well enough to play properly and has a very special place in my heart too. That and the amazing Pete Knifton artwork bring back a lot of memories of gaming afternoons with friends. Although there is no denying that 3rd edition onwards is a better game as it was really hard for agility team to compete in the inevitable mid-field melee. And if you played to '3 scores wins' it could take longer than a game of WHFB!

If there's one rule that you should add from the compendium its being able to use agility (in a defensive way) in a block. It really allowed the agility teams to compete. Even without the nefarious skaven match-fixing!

Thanks for taking the time to read my blog post. In my latest report I have added most of the rules from both the expansion books. They really do add to the game.
