Building a Daemonic Legion of Slaanesh

My kinky chaosette conversion was a strange project. Although Daemonettes do not have character models or leaders per say in their units, I wanted to do a special one wearing chaos armor. The only instances where Daemonettes even show up alone in a Slaaneshi Legion are as spawn pack handlers, or if one pops out of a randomly generated daemon weapon. I converted my Daemonette character from I picked the classic Kinky Chaosette model because, first, she is in a lovely suit of chaos armor, and second, she has the lithe shape and crazy heels which seem 'right' for a Daemonette in full battle armor. Those human arms had to go though....
I replaced the hands with a pair of armored crab claws donated by a pair of Slaaneshi champions. An armored razor edged rail was procured from a 'spare' Daemonette as well. That was tricky to remove. A touch of green stuff at the joins and she was ready to rend and dance. Fear not gentle readers, Miss Candy Crush was responsibly sourced entirely from the old lead of other Slaaneshi models. I went for a decidedly Old School flair on her paint scheme, deliberately leaning into the over-the-top nature of the model.
After I had finished painting her, I ended up deciding that rather than having her be the corner case of a lone daemonette, I wanted her to be a daemon princess. She was already a goid bit taller than a normal model, and had a tail and claws, but she needed wings. The model was an odd size being bigger than say a gargoyle or harpy, but not nearly big enough for most monsters’ wings. In the end, the wings were sourced from a citadel jabberwock. She makes a fantastic contrast to the first more traditional daemon prince in my last post.

And now an unrequested short history lesson which is likely not news to regular visitors to this forum...Realm of Chaos was published in the grim darkness of the late 1980s. In was fact it, two hardback volumes, but those two volumes were not published as a set. The first, 'Slaves to Darkness' was published in 1988, and the second, 'The Lost and the Damned' followed in 1990. This trivia matters because the way Games Workshop chose to handle daemonic legion games changed dramatically in those two years.
In 'Slaves to Darkness' the focus of legion battles was entirely on the daemons themselves. The mortals were just support, and it was not possible to field a legion that wasn't mostly daemonic models. Game balance between them and "ordinary" mortal armies in Warhammer Fantasy Battle was not even attempted, and the madness and power levels of the forces involved was turned up to eleven. Slaves to Darkness included quite a bit of daemon vs daemon black and white art, but had only a single page in the color section which showed a Daemonic Legion battle in progress. It was glorious, and I have always wanted to build one and settle scores on behalf of the gods themselves on the table.
'The Lost and the Damned' version of a daemonic legion was entirely another matter. Legion battles in that book were presented as a way to get all of a player's chaos models on the table at the same time, with as little restriction as possible. This buffet style of legion battle even allowed any chaos units from Warhammer 40,000 and there was no limitation of the proportions of any of these things, so daemons could be a quite minor supporting role in the actual army. All that was required was a greater daemon model to act as the army general. While I do appreciate the design goal of allowing players to field whatever they have, I feel it loses a great deal of flavor and theme from the games by not requiring the daemons to be the stars of the show. I explain all of this to point out that my legion has been constructed from the 'Slaves to Darkness' daemonic list, and as a result the mortals and monsters are far more restricted than what was possible in 'The Lost and the Damned'.
The daemonic legions as described in Slaves to Darkness were always what I felt was the ‘true’ vision for war in the Realm of Chaos. This is all a long rambling way to say why I settled on the lists as portrayed in ‘Slaves to Darkness’ with its highly structured Legion army lists.

My unit of Minotaurs, The Pale Worms, began their career as a fairly typical warband of their kind. They easily could have ended up in a Khornate army, like so many of their kin. Their hunger for flesh led them to throw in with a Slaaneshi tyrant for the simple reason that gore-covered fodder was so readily available. As these giant beastmen fed their hunger time after time, they became more and more caught up in the other pleasures the rest of the army was taking part in around them. Before long they were disporting themselves with abandon, while also beautifying themselves with inks, dyes, and tattoos to match their new comrades. By the time they were inducted into my daemonic Legion of Slaanesh, The Pale Worms were entirely unhinged, with a monstrous hunger both cannibalistic and debauched.
As a unit in the Legion, The Pale Worms, provide a 'beefy' hard hitting contrast to the bulk of Daemonettes. They are actually cheap enough to be considered expendable compared to the units of lesser daemons, despite having triple the Wounds of those more expensive models. They are part of the legion’s auxiliaries and have a hard limit of no more than twenty available. However that number can include a number of heroes. These fellas were fun to convert and paint, and I may well add to the unit down the road.

I got a couple of figures to paint up some time for a Slannesh cult but long list.. I picked up a copy cause it was on a list of 'worse figures ever made'.. one of these rubbish lists but people who appear to made at any figure which isn't modern and zbrush sculpted ¬_¬ though they would need the adult tag on the safe side.

Possibly, given it's easy enough to opt in I may err on the side of caution, much as it grates against my dislike of censorship. I shall go and refresh my sleep deprived brain of what the OSA guidance says lest some poor person in the UK has miniature induced trauma and Ofcom come asking for money...
