Michaels 25mm WFB Stuff...

I have added an interactive map on my website, it is possibly less user friendly than how the page was done before, but honestly I find this to be a bit more fun, like how the internet used to be!

Go to my site and visit the Warm Ale and Mud page, be sure to clear caches and what not if you do not see the above shown mappe!!

I have just added a new type of clickable icon to the map.

The idea behind the wizard is that is a bit of a Taal nature dude and and elementalist, so browns seem to make more sense.
Plus unlike the soldiers he is not in an army and does not have a wonderfully bright uniform to wear, so he just wears what he wants.
Definitely seems fitting for a wizard from Talabecland not to be too fussed about their looks.

Thanks for the compliment on the face, it is my second favourite one.
Johannes Pertwee being the favourite, I guess? You've nailed that subtle shading and highlighting that results in more realistic looking faces on many minis but to me this wizard and Pertwee do especially stand out.
I have tendency of going overboard with contrast when painting faces and minis often end up looking old and wrinkled with occasional, inadvertent, look of wearing eyeliner to boot.

The count is indeed very bold in colour, he needs to show his wealth and inspire the troops no?
Flashy outfit and bling to show wealth, rank and importance is nearly as essential part of leading the troops as actual skills. Sometimes in office as well as on battlefield...

Do you have a blog or anything like that online?
No, I don't. My miniature hobbying has become so sporadic it would make one short blog with entries being extremely few and far between.

Thanks for the reply.
Yes Johannes Pertwee is my favourite face of all time.

Oh indeed, can't have the peasants following some pauper, they may as well rule themselves and that sort of carrying on is not at all what we want.
The horror.

Thanks, he just wants to practice is art and study in peace.

With my Stirland garrison of Heiligsheld being complete it is time to turn to the enemy, the undead of neighbouring Sylvania.

My Undead forces are here:

Due to the nature of them I figured they will be quicker to paint than my fleshy human fancy uniformed chaps.
This pleases me as my humans take me about 8 hours a model to paint.
The zombies have flesh and bone and metal and cloth and they are my biggest unit so they will take longer than the simpler skellibobs.

Having left the largest of my human units to last and regretting it, I decided to paint my largest and hardest undead unit first.
But I did not pay anywhere as much time on them and this is very clear if you look closely at them.

One of the things I wanted to do in terms of their appearance is make them drab.
So they have only a few colours, all the hair is black and all the leather/cloth is brown.
This helps make them more of a dull shambling mob of meh.

Another thing I wanted to do was make them look like they bring death with them.
So I used a browner static grass than normal, more leaves, no pretty shrubs/flowers and I added brown fern/bracken. The idea being that their very presence brings death and decay to the very ground they walk.

So here they are:

Bloody hell you got those painted up fast.

Indeed, very basic 1 hour paintjobs.
Not something I would do again as up close they do not pass muster, but then I fully expect them to rout after a turn or two of HTH.

Ferns and leaves from my regular dealer:

Im deffo buying fern on Monday, it's my second fave plant. I've got one of those hole punch thingys that do leaves but can't find it unfortunately, might buy some leaves just in case it doesn't show up.
