Mystery of the SFD Giant Robot Tank: Solved?

The SFD Giant Robots were a limited release series from Citadel around 1987. A couple of them appeared in the Rogue Trader rulebook. They were advertised in a mail-order flyer, but one of the pictures was missing. Was the pictured miniature the Tank or the Imperial? And where was the other robot?

I was cruising around eBay when I found what appears to be the answer. There was a blister pack, originally marked at 1.95, which contained both the Imperial and the "unreleased Manga robot." I think that the Manga robot is the mysterious Tank robot!

Whew! We can all rest easy now!

Interesting, but there is also another candidate that appears in Heroes for Wargames:

erm... for the design bit.. yeah.... great designs as in the first edition battledoids/battletech (I wanna get some of them first edition figures but.. hard to find.. mostly cause they weren't allowed on sale for long. Atleast Citadel's ones were.. less clear but you can clearly see 'inspired by' Kazutaka Miyatake, Shoji Kawamori and Go Nagai.

Yeah, that mini is indeed another possibility. That said, I’ve never seen it anywhere besides in Heroes for Wargames. I wonder if it was ever released, or whether it’s even a Citadel miniature!

No I haven’t seen it either. You would have thought we would have seen it out in the wild somewhere. If it was a pain to cast it might have been dropped quickly even before the release which would explain the lack of image. I did contact Bob (response on the wiki page) and he gave a bit of background. I aso asked him about Tank but never got a reply, so looks like it will remain a mystery.
