Would like your opinion

Heyer

Vassal
Hi first of all i know this topic is not miniature related, but i hope there is no problem about it,if some administrator think it is not correct to post it i will delete it,thanks.
I need your opinion about :do you think i can find i job faster in some european country like,uk for example, than in Spain?
I lost my job and i am thinking about it,but not sure how is the situation in other countries, here is so dificult to find a job right now :( .
I worked in diferent foundries,steel,iron,aluminium...i can do a litle bit of everything,i have more of 15 years of experience,i speak english, and i am an open mind person with positive thinking and too much pasion to learn new things and persons.
I would really apreciate if you can give me some advice or job ;) ,thanks.

I'd stay away from the UK, I've been out of work for awhile now and it's not looking any better any time soon. Most companies in the UK are looking for cheaper and cheaper labour and seem to be encouraging east European workers above more skilled workers.

The place I worked at got taken over and I was made redundant (that's an oxymoron if there ever was one ;) )...I had never been unemployed since 17 and I've been out of a job for nearly 6 months now.

I can't shed any light Heyer, but I feel your pain

I actually used to work in a Steel Foundry (as opposed to a wargames one!) and all I can say is that heavy industry in the UK appears to be dying a slow death, as it's being outpriced by cheap, foreign foundries.

The one I used to work at has closed down, and that was one of the last in the group to go. There might be work at some of the smaller, niche foundries, depending on your skillset, but the days of the big steelmills are long gone over here.

Hi,thank you so much to everybody for the information,i can see that in the uk job market is dificult to find a job,but you can not imagine how hard is in spain :( ;) .
I think i will investigate the market, talk with my wife, think the pros and cons and let's see what happens.Any advice would be really really apreciated, thanks.
Dieselmonkey,as a foundry worker, can you tell me where in uk are the best places to find foundries or anything related?thanks again.

As far as I know the mould-making industry in France (wich has to be realated to foundry somehow) is having hard times in France too. Are you looking for opportunities in that field alone or are you considering any reasonable job?
I believe putting a hard-earned 15 years experience aside must be painfull but it is an option to consider (just my own perception here).
I'm in no position to offer any job unfortunately but you have my genuine sympathy.

Mine was quite specialised, making parts for railways, and based in Nottingham. Most of the existing works are based around the Midlands and Yorkshire though.

I don't know that this will be of any help to Heyer, specifically, but it I've seen quite a few people here state that they are unemployed. I also know that gaming as a hobby tends to attract science type people, so I wanted to post this link http://www.epo.org/about-us/jobs/vacanc ... iners.html as an option. Patent Examination is not a job most people ever think about (and it isn't for everyone). The EPO version of the job requires a science degree, citizenship to an EU country, and some knowledge of English, French, and German (See the link provided, you don't have to be fluent).

Unfortunately, that's about the only job help I can offer from this side of the Atlantic
