who can fight in 4 WFB Edition Close Combat

Hello,
Me and a friend want to make some games in 4 Edition WFB.
We have a few discrepancies about who can fight in close Combat.
We treat it like in the 3 Edition, because fighting over corners is only explained in detail in the 6 Editon.

But we are not sure because there are neither in 4 or 5 exact details in the rule book.

Hi Mate

From memory we played base to base contact so diagonals were ok to strike and strike back. Even if the strike was coming from the 2nd rank like with spears and such.
