When trolls meet elves on the pitch

Some of you may have seen on my blog last year, that I'm preparing an entry for a 'duel' competition at the NAF Championship, a Blood Bowl tournament in Nottingham in May (the same event I'm taking my Dark Elves to).

The rules of the competition are simple, any 2 Blood Bowl players mounted on a 40mm or 50mm base in a mini-diorama.

I converted up this little scene months ago (in my head I'm referring to it as "Not the Face!"):

I've practically finished painting the troll (elf is only base coated). Just a few minor touch-ups and he's done. He's a touch shiny because I used some inks on him; that will be sorted later on. Hope you like him!

I had to go from the painted version to the naked one many times to check where the sculpted parts were. With the paint on, the convesrion looks even better, splenidly blended !
I like the yellow of the troll and there really is a good "readabiliy". Is the elf matching one of your teams or is he just painted like this to match the troll?
Really great work, I'd love clos'ups of the sculpted parts because they're top-notch.

Thanks guys The greenstuff work was a lot of fun on this guy, partly because matching human anatomy wasn't quite so critical. I use some clay shapers and they've been the best thing to blend in all the organic shapes. I'll take some close-ups once the whole thing is finished; I plan to do a full article on the blog.

The elf is actually to match my existing elf team, and the troll colour was selected to match his strip rather than vice versa

Will you add the ball back when finishing up the base? I'm hoping you will, as it says a lot about the priority of trolls when playing Blood Bowl. "Don't even bother with the ball, stupid!" =)
