What to do... What to do...

Well Im working away on my Oldhammer Dwarfs (all 4000 points of them!) and have my Empire and Undead also underway and for Rogue Trader I have an Eldar army and a Rogue Traders Entourage also 'in development'... But I have a little quandry.

My club are all doing Chaos Warbands.

Mine will be composed of the usual variety of odds and sods, largely based on the first 15 cards Im gonna draw from a 'Chaos Marauders' deck!

What I do want it to feature are Chaos Dwarfs, Beastmen, Goblins, Warriors... the usual 'bit-o-everything' chaotic nature of such things!

But what Im stuck on is what 'god' to align my forces too...

I could go 'Undivided' but that seems a cop out. I could do Khorne, but always felt a little jaded by the 'BloodSkullsDeath' mantra. Nurgle remains a perinial favourite of mine, but another club member has already poached Grandfather Nurgle. Slaanesh really doesnt seem very Chaos Dwarf to me...

So Im left with Tzeentch.

Not a god I have ever really warmed to, but its a distinct possibility.

Of course, I could go all Kaleeb Daark and go with Malal, which seems somewhat fitting given he features on the 'Chaos Maruader' cards with his troupe of white beastmen.

Im in a complete tizzy as to what to do... and its really stalling my project.

So... Any thoughts, or will someone just tell me what to do!

Malal is good, or you can go The Kweetull route too (not sure about spelling) or even do your own god as well, that'd be proper fun (though would require a lot of work I agree)

Then again you can still use whatever god you fancy without taking the usual route, all khornates don't have to be big warriors with axes, everything Nurgle needs not to be green, I think the basic concepts of each god has been distorted, just base you warband on the basic trait : Violence for Khorne (doesn't mean blood and skulls though those are immediate, Decay for Nurgle (not illness, decay which is a far much better and wider concept really, illness only being a consequence of the will to do nothing), pleasure for Slaanesh (that does not mean sexually nessecarily) and change for Tzeentch (which in no ways means it's all about magic and combos of blue/purple and yellow).

I'd probably be intersted ni maknig tables for Necoho bu tmaybe that's a group Project for here...

Anyway, hope to have given you foof for thoughts ;)

YOu can do chaotic good too, like some very nice followers of knorne who want voluntary donations of blood? Or followers of slaanesh who prefer noting more perverted than a nice gaming evening?

Yes... Defo sparked some life in my brain chaps!

I like the idea of playing with the current perception of things... Take things back to their roots so to speak.

Perhaps changer of the ways may be apt for a bunch of Chaos Dwarfs, changed from the usual path and following one of more magical enlightenment! Or Nurgle... And have the theme of decay brought out by rusty armour and the like...

Then again, Malal may be fun given his propensity to muck around with the others. Would allow for a diverse warband, all bound by the desire to wreck others... Perhaps former followers with an axe to grind!

For me, I like to have a back story for my armies, helps bring them to life and forge a narrative in their development.

Will pull out the RoC books again tonight and immerse myself!

Even some kind of theme or prop might be fun, like the god of spoons or something. Give your models spoons. The pudding god, or even pastafarians?

There's also Zuvassin the Undoer, and Necoho the Doubter that were briefly mentioned in ancient Warhammer history, but not really fleshed out, so you can make them out to represent whatever you like.

Zuvassin would be a brilliant idea indeed. I think one of our 2015 targets should be to have charts and gifts sorted for Zuvassin and Malal at least.

Zuvassin the Undoer... I like the sound of that fellow!

Never heard of them before... Any history of them online? Would be a good one to do... A warband hellbent on just messing with others for no other reason than being a messer!

Both he and Necoho come from "Something rotten in Kislev" Zuvassin has a real potential I think. I think I heard/read he was meant as a replacement for Malal :

Now I have an urge for Chaos troops in furry hats... Chaos Cossacks for the win!
