Hi, I am (slowly) trying to learn the WFB 3rd edition rules and building a Dwarf Army.
I was trying to read a bit of hints for army building online and many places are mentioned that the best formation is 4 wide and 5 deep, 20 men in total.
I was really wondering why this should be the best formation.
On p. 64 under Combat Results it states that you get +1 for each subsequent rank to a maximum of +3, but "there must be at least 4 models engaged in the front rank, for this bonus to apply", doesn't that mean I loose the bonus if just 1 model died during the combat?
Am I missing something important?
Also is it maximum +3 in total or 3 subsequent rows + the first = +4 total?
Thanks.
