Where do you set your games?

‘Official’ published areas of the world.
‘Modified’ versions of official published locales.
‘Homebrew’ settings that you made.
‘Settings?’ just a scrap innit.

Homebrew for my 25mm, Official for my 10mm.

Do they resemble the 'official' setting much, or a complete deviation?

Well there are cultural similarities because of the look of the miniatures.

I'd say the majority of our adhoc fantasy games as youngsters were just that - it was a battlefield somewhere. However all the large games were generally set somewhere - the "siege of such and such" and things like that, or small campaigns where we found some suitable village or landmark on a map and wrote an idea spun off that. 40k wise I think they were more just battles, beyond any specific game like Necromunda if you like I don't remember setting them anywhere. So I think our games were solidly in the GW universe, but for the most part that simply formed the rough canvas/shape of the world in which that little 8'x4' bit resided.
