Warhammer 3rd Orc Artillery Rules Question

Can someone provide clarification on some questions concerning Orc Artillery?

Stone Throwers, Skull Crushers, Man Manglers are all part of the "rank and file", so they can be organised into units - can a unit contain different pieces of artillery? Can a Skull Crusher and a Man Mangler both be part of the same unit?

What about Animosity? Will units of War Machines have to pass an Anmosity test?

And on a related note (re: Animosity): If a Goblin character (lv.20+) joins a unit of Orcs, can the unit use the Goblin hero's Ld bonus for its Animosity test?

Thanks!

I don't think so.

The different types of warmachine in the same battery is unique to Dwarves, check the warmachine entry for Dwarves, it's very specific and is one entry with multiple options and reflects Dwarves affinity with artillery.

The Orc entries are separate same as infantry, if you could mix and match different warmachines in the same battery for Orcs logic would dictate you could mix 10 Gobbos with 10 Black Orcs in the same unit which you can't, ergo you can't with warmachines.

I don't think there's any need for them to either, they can take a shed load of artillery, especially when you add in all the extra entries for Iron Claw Catapults and small Rock Lobbers in White Dwarf that can be added to the Orc list.

Thanks!

I am confused by the description in WFb 3rd p.106: "An engine unit does not require a specific leader model and may include several types of engine".
I thought this means that I can include several different 'sizes' of stone thrower in one unit.

What about the animosity, though? I don't want to hurl rocks at my own ladz...

Also, what would be considered the 'standard' size for a 3rd Ed. army? 3000pts.? 2000pts.?

Also also, there's another thing - one for the numbers crunchers. It concerns army size and my favorite badass, Balgörg
Thanks, Goblinlee, for the pic

If I want Balgorg as army general, I need an army of >3500pts. half of which must consist of rank and file. Balgorg himself is 1000pts.
Now, if I have 2000pts. of rank and file, can I chose 1000pts of characters plus Balgorg and call it a legal 4000pts. army?

Or do I need a 4000pt army without Balgorg to add him? Which'd mean I need 2500pts. of rank and file because 4000pt. army + Balgorg would come to 5000pts. half of which would have to be rank and file

Warhammer Armies changed a few things, I don't think the quote from BOB (Big Orange Book) fits the lists as they are written, but, tbh, it's your hobby, if you opponent is happy with what you do, do it.

The army lists in 3rd Ed Warhammer Armies are based on 3000point armies.

Artillery does not test for animosity.

Lord knows about the Balrog but Orcs and Goblins are only allowed a 3rd of their points spent on Characters, there is a table on page 89, maximum of Chatcters is 1/3rd.

Thanks!
If Artillery doesn't have to test for animosity, the unit question is void anyway - I just wanted to know how many heroes I needed to assign to the artillery units to pass those tests using the Ld bonus. If the answer is 0 anyway, I can form up two artillery units no problem

I think the balgrog is part of the army, so the minimum legal is 1750 rank and file, 750 other characters and the balgrog
