Using allies and mercenaries at the same time?

I was looking into making a kind of “crusade” army for WFB 3rd edition. I’m pretty set on using Bretonnia as a base because I like their vibe but was unsure about the ally and mercenary options. I don’t think I’ve read anything to say otherwise but I was wondering, can I have an ally contingent and a mercenary contingent in the army at the same time. If I can that would be (according to the points ratios) 1/3rd for the main army list, 1/3rd for allies, and 1/3rd for mercenaries. Is this possible in the rules?

Thanks.

Would it not be the case that you can have both, but they both need to come from the same chunk of points allowance? I'm currently reading Warhammer armies, (then will be rereading the rules), but haven't got to how many points it can be yet for allied, but I would have thought that if (for example) 25% could be allies or mercenaries, it would be fine to take both, provided their combined total wasn't over 25%? Rather than 25% mercenaries 25% allies and 50% Bretonnians?

Pretty much anyone can use Mercenary's as they are freelancers, but you must have a baggage train.
The points are taken from the same way as normal troops but are taken from the same points allowances as Ally and Mercenary but you may allocate more points from any part of your total points value to count as 'paying them' because mercenaries need to be paid to be loyal.
The problem is the enemy can bribe them and you need to make a loyalty test

The extra points don't count as the allotment totals, but what percentage is in each armies list. For Bret's, Allies can be up to 1/3 of the Armies total, same as Mercenaries, but you MUST spend 1/2 on Rank & File models in the normal army.
