The blue is actually the 'official' new Ultramarine GW scheme, but the highlights were kept very minimal so the effect is darker and the weathering helps tone it down too.

Ardyer, I wanted one of the iconic chapters for these classic models so it was either Ultramarines, Blood Angels, Crimson Fists, Space Wolves, or White Scars. I've already painted a large Crimson Fist army and I have modern Space Wolf assembled and waiting. I've never been a fan of Blood Angels. With White Scars I wanted to be able to match the fluff for both old and new versions and the modern incarnation is bike heavy. With the Ultramarines I can work the list to fit both the Rogue Trader era and the modern codex, at least for small games.

Ha, no problem I was just giving you junk about it because I'm just that kind of person. By the way, where in the Chesapeake are you? I'm in Fairfax Co., VA and Magos Explorer is just past me. I'd love to revist some rogue trader

Very nice minis !
Painting is cool, and the freehands really makes the minis better.

Keep them this look, as it is perfect for my taste ! ;)

Ditto!

I'd be up for some RT, although if it's Chesapeake that's a few hours' trek down by Norfolk...

Yep, I live down near the VA/NC border... Probably be a while before I have enough models painted for a game. I haven't completely decided on a direction yet beyond painting a handful of marines! One of my regular freelance jobs includes painting lots of historical models and my free time painting gets divided between lots of different periods and genres.

This is really good, the nice contrats between the upper part and the worn-out bottome part is very convincing and the bright red of the eyes really makes them look tough as nails. a very good unit I'd love to see a army of...

Love the painting!
That's how marines should look, not a human head grafted onto a gigantic robotic body with a 20 degree field of vision.

They look absolutely great - a true Rogue Trader look. The pics could have been from an old White Dwarf!
