The Tragedy of McDeath

I don't have much to show yet of this WIP, but I am finally getting somewhere, so I wanted to share. The occassional photograph will be shared later.

Since 1988 I have dreamt of playing The Tragedy of McDeath in its entirety. Now, at the age of 44, I have set myself a deadline to complete the task until my 50th birthday.

It started in 1988, maybe earlier, when I bought Julia McEwman und Banquo and got the scenario-box (minus the buildings). Two attempts to play all four scenarios have since been unsuccessful, the first only reaching Winwood Harbour, the other Loch Lorm. Attempts at buying more miniatures had also been unsuccessful. Until last year. Now I am determined, and I have a cunning plan.

Here's the plan so far, the goals reached and the missing parts:

WINWOOD HARBOUR
- I own all McEwman personalities. For the warriors I will use Viking miniatures, mostly old Citadel, some old Foundry, some new Foundry. They even have sort of a longship.
- I own some of the McArno and Greevant clansmen, not enough though. Richard Greevant and Kit McArno will be made up of FrontRank models Jacobite personalities.

LOCH LORM
- I own Brooben Keeler, the McCoughlagan characters and the monster.
- For the Malters, I have no idea yet what to use
- For the McCoughlagans, I have ordered Highlanders from FrontRanks Jacobite range. Should fit.
- I could do with a dray.

DUNGAL HILL
- Mounted Dart, Earl of Hark Ness: check. Raybees: check. Een McWrecker: check. Arka Zargul: check
- all other characters: fail. Well, obviously this includes Sandra Prangle, so I don't expect too much.
- I do have enough Orcs. Even crossbow armed ones.
- Dwarfs: I need a fistful of them and am in the process of gathering some old miners and adventurers
- Knights of Hark Ness: I don't want to use nine identical miniatures. The F5 paladins would come in handy, I already own three of them since back in the 80ies, the rest should follow

RUNSINANE CASTLE
- The garrison shouldn't pose a problem, it's only 30 Orcs (recycled from Dungal Hill) and 20 Goblins.
- Klinty: nooooooooooo, not even his foooouur sooooooullllmaaaaaates. Hum.
- As for Spot, the Lord and the Lady: This might be the hardest part.
- Possibly three chests are harder to get...

Most of the miniatures will then have to be painted, the battlefields constructed and the castle built. Yes, I'd like to take the floorplans as a basis and construct something more, erm, three-dimensional on top of them.

So, join me in a toast to madness and the five-year-plan!

Best of luck with this admirable project. So are we all invited around to play the scenarios on your 50th?

(stands and raises glass in the air) A toast to you mate!

That is an admirable plan you've set yourself ! you may have already done it but if you haven't patatovitch here is actually going through the same process (more or less).I'm also trying to port this scenario pack to Rogue trader so I have a slight idea of the work it involves. You have my full moral support !

I have the mint box set and a few Highlanders going spare if you're interested. After my third try, I'm giving up! (Only because the walls of Troy have overtaken my hobby time! ;) )

Good luck! Interested to see how it turns out!

Suppose a hearty congratulation is in order then! =)

How old is sprog #1? I remember the time when we had our first, I've never painted so much in my life as I did his first 1.5 years! He's 3 now, so when/if we get a second I'm not sure there will be as much painty time. =/

Thank you!

#1 turned three two weeks ago. I second that, never painted that much as when my wife was pregnant and I stayed at home with the child. What do you do for a pastime, when your kid sleeps 20 hours a day...

Now, I suppose, this will not turn out the same.
