The Origin of the Red Redemption

Many thanks for Tony Ackland for pointing this out on the FB group - the Diciples of the Red Redemption have their origin in the french comic book Lone Sloane by Druillet

Obvious inspiration the metal masks, the red cloaks and the name. Kharman may have influenced Khorne, makes me wonder what else is hidden away in there!

"The Red Redemption will come through Fire and Blood". Great Stuff.

Thanks for sharing Zhu, It makes me feel teher are still gaps in my comic collection (it's even more unforgivable given I'm french...) I think the background to the RoR Red Redemptinist also picks from Lovecraft (there are quite some novels from him with guys picking old books from hidden temples, "behind the wall of sleep" for example). Druillet's style must have influenced Ian Miller somehow, Both him, Tony Ackland and Tony Hough share some resemblance to his work.

I have to point that Druillet published in "Métal Hurlant" (screaming metal), a magazine where other artists like Moebius and A. Jodorowsky where also published, these guys all had a tremendous impact on Sci-fi and fantasy. Which leads me to think that I'd like to make some sort of Meta-baron crossover with Rogue trader...

Of course but french always have issues translating any language ;) I mentionned the translation because its sounded more like glam metal (early pre"cowboys from hell" Pantera for example) than like "Heavy metal" which immediately brings me images of muscled warriors, big axes, big guns, twisted evil world destroying ennemies and big titted amazons

I think Druilet would be within his rights to ask for a percentage, or maybe he gave permission?

Anyway, if peeps in the US are following this, Heavy Metal are selling Lone Slone: Chaos for $5 (the Red Redemption page above is from Delirius).
