The Musketeers of Nuln - Mordheim/Warheim FS

The Musketeers of Nuln

I could start this entry with the words haste makes waste! Because this saying sums up well what I did at the beginning of the year.

If you read the blog DansE MacabrE, you've probably noticed that for a long time on Sundays I've been publishing entries marked with the recruitment (rekrutacja) label, in which I present ready-to-paint miniatures that make up Warheim FS warband.

Wanting to optimize my work, I prepared several warbands and bought spray paint, or even two. When I had everything ready, one winter morning, taking advantage of the free time and the renovated room, where I could spray paint with impunity, I started to prime the miniatures.

Mindful of my teachings, I turned on the radiator in the room and placed two cans of paint on it to warm it up, one quite close to the valve, and the other at the end of the radiator, which happened to be forced by the shape of the windowsill.

In the meantime, I went down to the kitchen, made myself some coffee, even had a few sips, and went back to my room. I reached for the closer paint can, the one at the end of the radiator. I shook it vigorously a dozen times and proceeded to paint. In one go, I was able to paint these Musketeers of Nuln, Wolf Riders, and the Lichmaster's Undead Horde. Success, right?

Well, not really, because it turned out that the radiator in an unused room on which I was heating the paint cans had air in it and was only heating at the valve, and I reached for cold paint. And whoever painted models with such a spray knows what the final effect looks like.

Maybe that's why it took me almost 100 hours to paint the Musketeers of Nuln. Miniatures spoiled by a poorly applied primer were difficult to paint, and in the photos they will be able to see that despite many layers, the figures are far from smooth.

Originally, I planned to finish the models below in February, for the Miniatures Blog Carnival (FKB) edition I run, then I wanted to publish them in March for the #103 edition run by Wołek Zbożowy, finally I managed to finish the models only in April and catch the April edition hosted by potsiat.

And what do the Musketeers of Nuln and the April Weave have in common? Well, contrary to appearances, a lot. Apart from the story mentioned earlier, I interspersed the GW miniatures from different editions with bits from other manufacturers, and in contrast to the washed-out black and white, I put bright green feathers and accessories with which countess Emmanuela von Liebovitz awarded one of her favorite departments.

In addition, in the entry intertwining three editions of the Miniatures Blog Carnival, I also included photos of the Dramatis Personae - Steam Tank and the Hired Sword - Bombardier, in order to diversify.
