The Dead Rise! New undead army

Sooooo..... my wife and I got a little tipsy and I talked her into a game of Warhammer after she enjoyed Heroquest with a couple of friends.

She decided that undead would be fun to play, and I have painted a good amount of undead before, but sadly only had one box of unassembled zombies ofter my sale of everything else (even the Heroquest undead) including the garden of Morr. Can't take everything with me when moving.... ah well. Let's see what I do have.

1 Box of 20 Zombies unassembled- check
3 badly painted Skeleton Cavalry - check
8 badly painted skeletons - check
1 box of birthday present skeletons unassembled - check
2 well painted Necromancers - check
1 Bones Ghoul Queen unpainted - check
1 metal unpainted Bones Ghoul Queen look-alike - check
2 incomplete Chaos Furies that could be used as Fell Bats or even Vargulfs - need a wing
1 mostly painted old plague cart - check
Lots of plastic Battlequest wolves - check
3 spider swarms - check

Not a bad start. I got stuck into painting and then was lucky enough to aquire a unit of spear skellies and some more cavalry. I liked the look of the new Chainrasps which are going to be used as wraiths and spirit hosts.

Here we go!

Necromancers: Already had these two painted.

This is the Bones Ghoul Queen - modified and trimmed to be a cold, cold vampire.

^I particularly like the second necromancer and the first vampire. The freehand work is very nice. Is he a dwarf? I can't quite get a sense of scale, but he has a dwarfy feel about him. And the cold vampire is a neat model in a darned interesting paint job. I could easily see her spaced up. Great stuff!

The Necromancer is a modified plastic Empire Bright wizard, and I have had the model since playing Realms of Chaos warbands in 1997 with a few mates.

Here's what the model looks like unmodified.

Yes, all the paint is freehand.

The Vampire bat is the last to join.

I am missing the left wing off the other Chaos Fury, (if anyone has a suitable spare), but I do think they make better fell bats than some other models.

I might need some more furies, but here we go - pretty much complete with the last Necromancer found lurking in the Lost Warhammer Quest realm...

It looks very nice! And I see your goal now. Laudable stuff and good luck! I have conned my wife into playing with friends . . . precisely once, I think. But she's never shown any enthusiasm for it. I hope your game is a stunning success!

That's a great looking army. I really like the vampire bat/chaos fury. It reminds me of the creatures from Castlevania.

Fantastic stuff Bluey. I can't believe how quickly you've turned this army out. There's loads of beautifully painted minis here (the runes on the Necromancer's robes are insane), but for me it's the massed ranks of Harryhausen-esque skellies that make it.
