The Citadel Giant...

Ok, so I've got a bit of a sad one here. I was in the process of commission painting a 1983 Citadel Giant for a friend when he sadly passed away suddenly. His family have asked me sell it on their behalf so they don't have to deal with it. I was mid-prep with it, and so it's sold as stripped and pinned, ready for assembly and paint. It was missing the dagger, so I've sculpted a replica to go with it, which was going to be a surprise for Mark.

I've done it as an auction so it gets a fair price for what it's worth, as frankly I haven't a clue on it, it's that rare.

Anyway, the link is here: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/286653736092

Sorry to hear about your friend… :(
Best of luck with the auction. Is there charity you could donate a portion in his name?
Thanks. That's entirely down to the family, they're getting all the money from the sale. I might be helping deal with his collection at some point, so if that happens then we'll have that conversation then.

What a horrible thing to happen. My condolences to you all.

FWIW, I sold one for £1,600 back in 2021. It was a little different as it was untouched with all the parts and the box etc. While you probably won't need to, I'd stick a reserve on this. I'd go £500 minimum.

yeah.. that's not good. hopefully with it being sudden it wasn't too bad for him.. well, compared to a slow painful death but still not a nice thing for anyone.

Hope the sale goes well. It's a pretty rare to get piece which does normally go for high prices.

I didn’t want to add a reserve as it costs money, I’d like to think it would go for at least £500 regardless, I think the family would be ok if it reached that. It’s a shame it’s not complete with all the options, but it’s a good, useable display piece as it is.

Sorry the sale came about from such a sad situation.

For posterity £485 was the hammer price. I'd thought we'd breach £500 to be honest, but maybe too many people were out enjoying the warm weather.

yeah.. a little on the cheap side but around the ball park.

enjoying warm weather? you can enjoy warm weather?

Sadly not sold. Overseas buyer was messing around so I've cancelled the sale. Now need to decide what to do with it, whether to relist as a BIN, re-auction or try to sell off eBay. At least now I know roughly what to ask.

That is frustrating. I guess it wouldn't be unreasonable to maybe do a BIN accepting offers and aiming for ~£500? Worth offering to the runner up? I guess if there is no huge time pressure a bit of advertising ahead of BOYL and a transaction at the pub might get it into the hands of someone who will properly love it and avoid the joys of delivery. If there are no takers by then back on ebay it goes?

Alas tempting as it is (what a piece of history) I have a couple of unpainted other (cheaper!) giants I've yet to even prep so I limited myself to nabbing the Scorcher you had listed to round out my orks (always like the model and my original one is off with my brother so I've had my eye out for a replacement).

Best of luck with it.

Sorry to hear it didn't reach its reserve, happy to offer asking price if family are happy to accept? also content to collect at BOYL as convenient to you.

Hi Paul, it went for £485, UK postage was £15 so if you're happy with £500 all in, drop me a PM.
Happy to pay £500, but I'd prefer you ran the offer by the family before accepting, as I wouldn't want to take away the opportunity for you to raise more.

They were ok with what it went for last night, it's what it was bid up to so it's a fair price as far as they're concerned.
