Terminator Captains and Powerswords

When playing a slightly stripped down game of Rouge Trader 40K with my 8 year old step son we realised that firstly major hero Terminator Captains are pretty tough cookies!

Secondly is there any point to the powersword he carries? Its inferior to his powerfist so can he drop his stormbolter and use it as an extra hand weapon and gain an additional attack? Giving him three powerfist twacks plus a swipe with the powersword?
 
Second close combat weapons down work like that in RT. You attack with ALL you attacks with BOTH hands but your right hand gets -1 to hit and your left hand gets -2 to hit (unless your a leftie, in which case its the way around!). WHich is usual;ly crippling, so doesnt get done. IM sure though with his WS6 its worth doing. 3 attacks at -1 with the fist and 3 at -2 with the sword.

Also, remember that the model was made with separate arms. Maybe the brief changed, with "rule of cool" giving him both weapons? ALso, this guy got sculpted in that crazy period of Realm of Chaos, so maybe its a deamon sword? or cermonial blade?
