Spacelords on Moab III

I bought me some Spacelords as civilians for my RT era game. I have named several and reviewed more in a post called The Lords of Space.

How on earth did I miss these miniatures the first time around, for lo, they are awesome . . .

I've named the technician Akagi Nabutake, the wealthy gentleman Sir Stanley Urasaline-Drakemore ROFL (Royal Order of the Flowering Lamp), and the lady "Colorado" Livinia January Rex-Avis. The last two are shrunken versions of some 1700 mm friends of mine. (I seem to be doing that a lot lately.)

And for comparison, here's the gang with some Citadel lead, em4 pewter, and Ramshackle vinyl:

Man oh man, what took me so long? These are GREAT! So very althammer. Mehr bitte! I want the bar!

The Spacelords range is, on the whole, really great. Their civilians are great and really fit with Rogue Trader. I've got a soft spot for the Yoyodyne Shigaru miniatures.

Edited to add: In case you've not seen the whole range check this link out. Be warned because you'll want the lot!

Nicely done, SP 8-)

Just to add to your temptation, did you know that Doug at em4 has bought the molds and is slowly rereleasing them? They aren't on the main website (you have to contact him through the email that's on there), but the list of what he's done so far is in this post on the LAF.

EDIT - just followed the link to your blog and saw that em4 was where you got your spacelords from. I'll leave the link here, though, so others can get their new-old lead fix

^Suber and Bug 16,

Thank you. I think I've seen more or less the whole range in one place or another, but not the particular link you sent. And for the life of me I can't figure out where the old photos I had seen were. Maybe it was just the SOL page, which is incomplete. You are, of course, correct. Not only do I want an awful lot more Spacelords than I can afford, but I find I want the fantasy stuff. It's pretty. Maybe that'll be my go-to fantasy range if em4 brings the whole thing back out. (If I ever go in a strong fantasy direction. I already have a small force of 25mm English Medievals.)

^Master Rab,

Please forgive me for laughing maniacally. Yes I did know. And I see that you know that I knew. Ah, what a world we live in. Thank you. And thank you for replying a touch too hastily, but not without considerable thought and care. I'm glad I'm not the only one who does that. You just get so excited sometimes that you have to say something . . . and then you realize it's already been said.

Thank you Warburton. I'm hoping I can help to drum up a little excitement over the range, as I'd like to see more of it in print so I can buy more myself. (Hey, em4 . . . space bar? Doubtless every spaceport in the Oldhammer galaxy needs a cantina and you could furnish a bunch of those.)

And I'm trying to up my photography game. Thank you. :)

I just don't need that kind of temptation. My wife is already on my case about spending too much on old lead. "That's really nice chong yeu [loved husband]. Could you sell it for fifty dollar on eBay?" (Doh!)

Encourage her to buy a new handbag then point that out the next time she complains about your lead addiction. :)

I don't think you know my wife. She never buys anything not marked down about 75%. And then she buys six. I'd have to take her to an outlet store and encourage her to buy six handbags. She just bought about eight carpet runners that were on clearance for a few bucks a piece at work and gave half of them away to friends and family. (Which still leaves us with four or five carpet runners.) Crazy woman, but she loves me. Wait, maybe that's why she loves me. Huh. Maybe I was on the clearance rack.

Sorry for the tangent, but that reminds me of a day, many years ago when I weekend I a grocery store. This old lady was buying a case of chewing tobacco because she had a bunch of stackable coupons. The whole time her husband was getting mad at get because neither they, nor anyone they knew, chewed tobacco.

Glad there's one more Spacelords fan in the world now. =) I have a few painted here:

Regarding the fantasy range, it has unfortunately been spread and scattered over the years. Once upon a time, Mega Miniatures had it. A few years ago they started selling the molds and when they shut down they sold everything.

The best place for Metal Magic Fantasy shopping is Midlam Miniatures. They have A LOT of the ranges. I bought most of it straight from Doug when it was still around, but a few things that he had already sold is still missing from my rather hefty collection. Most of it is with Midlam, but some of it is with Center Stage Miniatures which is/was run by a thieving cock-lord of a cunt... if you pardon my french. So those miniatures are most likely oop for ever now and the payment for my order (1.5 years old now) most likely paid for some deviant porn on the 'net.

Atmospheric as ever, I really like those models and how you manage to build a whole setting with them, definitely an inspiring way to go

I'm just nerd-raged to the max that there are gaps in my collection are very unlikely to ever be filled. This guy bought molds from various sources, threw a few kickstarters and then douched his company up completely. See the Tome of Horrors kickstarters:

Get distracted by maps for a few days and you miss whole bloody pages of stuff . . .

^Ardyer,

That's funny. In my wife's defense, she's using the carpet runners. She thinks they're so comfy one of them is now a pad on the couch. I want to sleep on the bed. My wife wants to sleep on a pile of carpets on the floor. I really want to accommodate, but I find it's hard to stand up when half your limbs are asleep due to loss of bloodflow. I swear this was easier when I was sixteen.

^Phreed,

And a nicely done to you too. The darker greyer metalic on your lordling makes a better contrast to the yellow, I think. Interesting that we both went with yellow. I swear, I'm not copying. All colors were settled on ere I saw yours.

^Phreed and Asslessman,

Thank you both.
