Space Wolves Characters...with nobs on

axiom

Baron
I just saw this:

imagejpg1-1.jpg

It's from the new wave of Space Wolves - a terminator riding an anti-grav chariot pulled by wolves

My memory of Space Wolves is marines painted gray. Oh, Leman Russ had a couple of wolf buddies...but that the was it. This new fangled thing seems a touch over the top. But what do I know?! ;)

If they can make anti-gravity vehicles what do they need wolves for... or does that go against the 'flavour' of science fantasy?

I'd be more interested if they had anti-gravity wolves, that would be awesome!

I was going to say something learned about the Space Wolves drawing on Norse myth and Thors flying goat chariot, but then though nahh, this will do:

I got into 40K proper as the Space Wolves got their own range in 93, they were my one and only army...I realise that this was already their second time around but this just makes me wanna cry.

And I thought Thunderwolves were bad

Are you saying this is equally ludicrous or rationalises the concept Zhu? ;)

I lean towards the former :)

You've all been very polite so far so please let me say what needs to be said....

'What the f.u.c.k is that piece of shit? It's so bad it burns my eyes with the rays of a thousand suns!'

That is all.....

I am fed up with the constant GW bashing. It is ridiculous really. GW is doing this, GW isn't doing that.... blah blah blah

Here we have the solid proof they don't want us to buy their stuff because we don't have neither enough money to buy all the old lead we want/need nor the time to paint it. They know we couldn't handle to run on both oldhammer and Newhammer front so they make sure to come up with the most silly ideas in order to help us stay focused. I say it's a big wink and thumb up from Mr Kirby. Thanks mate, I do appreciate it and I'm sure some others do as well ! Keep releasing these so I can stay full throttle on Rogue trader.

Now if you'll excuse me gentlemen, I have some work on Rogue trader and confrontation, you know a grim dark future where there is not only war but also Space adventures, drug dealers, gang fights, non fighting characters, a pinch of cyberpunk, another of space opera and a fistful of 2000AD.

Thank you, that is actually what needed to be said

I'm not sure why it would need to be pulled by wolves at all. Go to all that effort of having a flying anti-grav platform and then chain wolves to it. I wouldn't mind it as much if it were some kind of "running with the wolves" transport. That is, just a way for a Space Wold to keep up with a pack of wolves, not just two awkwardly stuck to the front of it.

At least it showed up all the people who insisted they wouldn't go so far as a marine chariot, even with the artwork in a GW video showing one :)

(I still think it's more fun than boring early Rogue Trader stuff...)

I mean . . . I don't like the aesthetic.
At.
All.

But I don't have anything against the absurd notion of wolves pulling a floating chariot. I embrace the silliness. Seems just about right to me.

I got the plastic space wolf set from, what, ten years ago. All still done by Jes Goodwin. The bare heads are great, not just for space wolves but to make nice marine characters. I've got a nice squad of neo-beakies with a Goodwin sculpted sergeant. The rest were used for marine mercenaries and the remaining lot will be for a chapter called the Emperor's Hazmats.
RE: topic: I will not say anything at all!

You know...... I was gaming this Saturday and one of the guys in my group remarked "Hey, Chris, did you see the new Space Wolf hover-chariot pulled by wolves?'

Mind you I was immersed in my RT rulebook, clarifying some rules before running a test scenario in preparation for Oldhammer Day in the US, so the ridiculessness kind of took me by surprise. After seeing the disgust and hatred boiling in my neck, one of my other friends remarked "here, I found it. want to see?"

I told him to wait. I stood up. Took a couple deep breaths.

Then I slapped myself in the balls.

After I recovered, the sight of that abomination was not quite as painful.
