Space Minotaur and Beastmen

Horaay! I painted my first Minotaur!

I've not been disappointed, the guy looks ace. Here you have a shot of the raw mini:

And here you have it after some glue and paint:

But a big guy like this need some friends ;). Fortunately I also had these wonderful Phagons:

So they make a nice bunch:

You can see them in the blog:

I still have another Mino, so he will be part of the band (hopefully) soon!

I really like the white stripe on red for th egun, it makes it look like a race motorcycle and the natural brown for the fur is also really intersting, totally not where I'm going but that's the beauty of it !

The phagons you've added really fit wel with him and the limited palette is working perfectly (I must be in my red white blue period but I think those colours work so well together)

Would you mind if we all post our results on the space mino on this same thread ?

Thanks, JB! :) Next Mino will be black, let's see where does this lead.

Surely that's a French thing  No, I believe they really do, you can get really nice combinations.

Sure! Nice way to keep track on them! Looking forward to see yours!

I still had a Mino to paint ;):

Now that I look at it I do believe black looks much better than brown. I kept on the red scheme and didn't touch te mini but to replace the bayonet with this unknown origin piece.

I also went on the Fimir Noble. Way too green, I'm afraid, but I experienced some difficulties with an old paint pot :( . Anyway, here it is.

I still have the Pisceans left, but they also are on their way... ;)

Looking good Suber. Yep the black is a better contrasting colour for sure, the detail is much more readable at distance. Great to see the Fimir assembled and looking good with a bit of paint on him.

What the heck are these guys and where did you get them? The minotaur looks so Phagon like I was wondering if it was a Space Lord, but it doesn't appear to be. Also, what the heck are the Fimir supposed to be? I see that they were a part of Heroquest, but I never played that (or WH Fantasy, for that matter) and so my knowledge is limited to overlap with 40K. Lovely minis.

Ohhh very nice!! I agree the black mino looks better! The black make him more "bull" I guess....

For the Fimir I recommend you to make that gold much more rusted , they live in swamps after all , use some green like Malicious green or similar diluted with water
to the consistence of ink , and apply gently to the gold parts , it should give a very nice gold/bronce oxidation effect.

;) ;)

It's a little newhammer I know, but the nihilakh oxide paint from GW is fantastic for doing verdigris and the like on gold/bronze/copper.

Nihilakh is not bad I agree, I recommend not using it straight from th epot but diluted but it works fine. Too bad Gold doesn't rust Diego ;), joke aside you're right some verdigris in some recesses could act as a spot colour and would liven up the model.

Oh...hmmm...yeah , I was just checking if you was paying attention.... :?

Love the black minotaur - he looks much more threatening than the brown. Amazing what difference skin colour choice can make (both are lovely however).

They (mino and fimir) are both sculpted by Diego ("Obscure Creator" on this forum) - great, aren't they?

Fimir were a part of the early Warhammer world, but later dropped. I suspect that this was because they were not exactly child-friendly, being bog monster lizard things who reproduce by capturing human women and well, erm, not being very gentlemanly with them. :o See the 3rd Edition bestiary section (p217-218)

Thank you guys!
Now that you say it, I believe you are totally right, some more green/blue would surely improve the overall aspect for that gold/bronze. Thanks!
But Diego, now I do need you to sculpt more variety of all your existing models! I need full units of them, you know, and they cannot be just all the same!

Mr. Rab has exposed it perfectly, Symphonic, you may want to speak with Obscure Creator. You know you want it. It's your destiny...

New Minotaurs are on their way....along with many others 8-)

^Mister Rab
Thank you. I find that I'm looking furiously to see if Obscure Creator has a catalog out there somewhere. What other lovely has he created? Very talented sculptor.

^Suber
You are no doubt correct. It is quite surely my destiny in the not-too-distant future. They are in the acquisition cue. Further up than many things that have been there a lot longer.
