Some Old, some Really Old and some new but Old Looking

I try to keep up with my hobby progress updates on my blog, but my hobby-squirrel attention issues are all over the place over there, so I thought I would at least start an Oldhammer specific-ish blog/thread here where I can post on stuff that I paint (When I have time - that's a BIG "when" with tiny children about and no dedicated hobby space.) that fits best what this forum is about.

I don't plan to work on or toward completing "Project Blah", etc., just random crap I've had in my lead/plastic/resin mountain for a while and maybe you lot will appreciate too.

Of late, as a palette cleanser I have cleaned up and based this lot. Of course, not "Official" GW, but some pretty cool homages by 3rd party sculptors. I plan to paint them all up in my fav Marine chapter livery - Space Sharks.

The Dreadnought is an upscaled version of the original RT Dread made by Hybrid Miniatures in the UK. (I got the resin version to lessen the shipping cost) I magnetised it's arms so I can change the load-out if I want.

The Marines are 3D prints I found on Etsy and asked the seller to upscale them to Primaris size (I actually like the Primaris aesthetic for the most part, I know, heresy.) so they'd tower over a regular human mini (I like my power armoured warriors of the future to stand out). Sadly, the seller got the inevitable Cease and Desist Letter from GW so they are no longer available, and I wasn't able to grab the 2nd set with Marines wielding Special Weapons :/.

Not sure when I'll get time to begin painting, but I'll at least get this lot primed this weekend I think, Superbowl parties allowing.

After these guys I have some random 80's Talisman figs, maybe some RT Imperial Guard or perhaps RT Genestealers to work on. Maybe even some early 80's DnD stuff. We'll see.

I have a copy of that big scale Ballnaught! Got it from a previous trader Troll Soup, it was originally sculpted by Drew Williams.

The big mk.6 style marines are cool designs! Do you know who sculpted them? Wouldn’t say they we the most on the nose copies of GW IP…

Apologies for the length of time to respond mate.
I checked my purchase history on Etsy and the seller had them listed as "Space Badgers" by TWG Miniatures, but my googlefu failed me in hunting down "TWG Miniatures".

All of the stuff I posted pics of has now been primed grey. Now to find some time to put paint on them!

Did this Ratskin a while back. Just came across the the rest of his unpainted pals and thought maybe I need to get on that? (Quar project might get in the way tho)

Figured I would get away from the typical brown skinned scheme just cos I never felt ANYONE would somehow get a tan in the Underdark?

For those Quar-curious, here is the first of my small collection I've put together for the Clash of Rhyflers skirmish game by ZombiesmithMiniatures, with a plastic minis range produced by Wargames Atlantic. Quar are like little colourful anteater people stuck in a continent-wide state of war, who's tech level hovers around a WW1-cross-Inter-War state.

This is Yawdryl Geraynt, the squad leader of my unit. (I tried to sculpt him a little tobacco pipe which I think looks ok. My GS skills have never been that good.)
The others in his squad, including their Squad Support tractor are on the painting table for if my busy family life will allow me more time at the paint table toddler-free.
The last image is from the official website (www.rhyfler.com) that shows the standard loadout for a squad of infantry from the Fidwog faction.

More Quar done! I really dislike and typically struggle with batch painting, but somehow managed to get 5 done in one go.

(Got a lightbox finally, but not sure I like the effect it offers or if I need to adjust the lighting or something. :?:)

The squad so far.

Still a handful more to go. Hoping to find time to get this remaining handful done so I'll be properly prepared for my intro game this coming Sunday. (The tank turret has a hull piece too, honest.)

I love to see quar. Been interested in these for years but haven’t dipped my toe in yet. Yours look great.

Thank you sir!

It's a great time to get into Quar; multiple well designed plastic sets (If plastics are your thing.), a load of 3D printable sculpts for further customization of your Quar plus full squads for nations not covered by the plastics. And the rules aren't half bad too.
