Slann extras?

ManicMan

Lord
Okay, being an idiot that I am, for some reasons I don't really want to go into, I've had to do alot of research and work on some Mesoamerican ancient cultures (mostly Maya and Aztec.. learning things like technically, you shouldn't ever say 'Mayan', it's 'Maya'. so not Mayan Architecture, but Maya Architecture.) And I decided I wanted to make a Slann Contingent more then an army.

Well.. while I sadly haven't played in SOOO long, 4ed was my rule set I generally played so I try to have that in mind... however Slann didn't exist for 4ed. they were removed after 3ed and didn't return until rebooted as the Lizardmen (with very few slann) for 5ed. sigh.

So 3ed. no problem there. I'm open to that. But while Slann can be fielded as an army, they can't be fielded as a Contingent. While we can debate Empire and Bretonnian forces having contingents (techinally don't but can come under some of the mercenaries) Slann are kinda the big missing faction from the contingent list.

I'm thinking of trying to work out a ruleset (it's not hard really. Just pick which limited amounts to use extra... and if I get too carried away, maybe work out a 4ed Slann armies book (or atleast the army list)) I'm wondering if anyone knows if they did do a some white dwarf Articles on a Slann Contingent or anything?

of course, would the Neutral Slann from the new world ally with the choatic Skaven from the old world is a ... different matter (or even if they would ally with what little I'm kinda building up as an Empire force is also very debatable) but reasons can always be found. Rats often travelled by ships and that's how the species because soo big and world wide. So some sneaked aboard a ship which headed to the new world, where they were trying to build a new village, which the Slann weren't happy with, so of course the Skaven decided that it would help them get a foot hold if they teamed up with the Slann to deal with the 'human' invaders. Afterall, the Slann weren't really subterranean folk, so not a huge rival with the Skaven. Though as the rats could just as well live under the human villages stealing scraps, they could just as easily ally with the Humans if the tide of battle started to go the wrong way.

but anyway... Does anyone know of any WD/official rulings for a 3ed Contention or 4ed Allies before I decided to go off on my own route?

ugh... I would prefer to port forward. 5th Lizardmen Army and Slann army are two different things. GW did such a huge amount of changes from the Slann as this powerful race to, only a handful and mostly there lizardmen slaves were the main force pretty much in charge of things. Not really keen on how they took them at all. Hell, the name change from the Slann Army to the Lizardman army says it all.

If you like, Think of the Lizardmen army as the race at war with the Slann, which leads to the Slann taking prisoners and making slaves of them. two different factions, with maybe the odd Slann member wanting to gain more power for themselves by allying with them.

That said, I don't like how they split the undead into two different factions but.. oh well. thus is life.

on the none rules set, there is also the visual difference in Slann. the Original south American toads, or the later European frogs.
